Yeah but considering these dwarf planets are forming from smaller asteroids, doesn't that suggest that over time the whole belt will combine into one mass? It seems extremely unlikely that Jupiters mass has stopped these rocks from combining for 4.5 billion years 😂

It seems more plausible that there was a collision with a planet that used to exist on that solar orbital radius.

Everything in the universe seeks stability, and based off of observing other solar systems, it's the newly formed systems that have a lot of rock a debris with irregular orbits, causing collisions, aka instability. Older solar systems only have large bodies with more circular, non-interfering orbits, because they have stabilized themselves to work as one balanced system.

Your in trouble, that's for sure, noticed your animation asteroid debris field is now in a very circular orbit.
Back when the field was first shown, there was a theory, that all the debris was more centered and it was the results of a broken up planet. But we don't hear that anymore. But there is literature in India, of wars in the heavens with the gods of the heavens. Just a thought for anybody that might have their headspace in the right place.
