"fun" things I noticed observing ground troops after dying over and over again

-At the beginning of the mission there's an Osean tank pinned down in the crossfire between Erusan vehicles. They're probably the first ally you saved minus the group near the landing ships.

-Beyond the pinned Osean tank there's another Osean vehicle being chased down a road by three hostiles.

-Beyond a hill featuring an Osean-Erusan battle with helicopters, there's a group of four tanks firing at each other in teams of two. Identifying both reveals both as Osean, causing radio chatter showing them shouting at each other for a ceasefire. flying past the tanks again shows all four organizing into a convoy driving towards the transports.

-Past the 2v2 allied tank battle, there's another small holdout of Osean vehicles in the airport which are absolutely surrounded.

These are all little and obvious things, but it really visually displays the chaotic and sad nature of the war. It's neat seeing all these little stories happen, even if they're mostly unspoken on the radio chatter, and seeing how your impact changes the course of events on the ground.

Despite how dark and morbid this mission is, it feels so heroic. Through the confusion, you sweep through the battlefield, and protect your scattered allies.

The Token War Crime Mission in AC7, and it doesnt disappoint.

"Why are they all singing that song?"
"Because everyone knows it. There's no other reason."

When the TU-160s emerge from the clouds after receiving orders to level the island. Dont know if it was just the moment but it made the Blackjack extra menacing

Everyone raves on about 2:43 deservedly.
But have you ever had 3:12 play while you're soaring through dark clouds? Rain rushing off your canopy, metal rattling with nothing but a green square for direction?

Goosebumps every time...

What a tragic mission. Friendly Fire incidents, etc. failing the mission by letting the bombers carpet bomb the island, that line you can just hear the hate in his voice

2:34 this part is amazing. It baits you into thinking its going to play that motif from Battle of Farbanti, Daredevil, etc. and then just cuts off into chaos

My jaw dropped slightly when I heard one of the enemy pilots say commence Operation No Return. I was like really, you should really be careful what you name your missions.

Picture it: you and your soldiers have been battling on this hellscape of an island for months now. What should've been an easy campaign turned into a grueling slug. Then suddenly communication across the planet goes down. You lose contact with command. You lose contact with your own allies in the field. It becomes every man for himself, and you start fighting your own friends. You're surrounded on all sides about to be overrun. This is the end.

Suddenly 8 fighters appear in the skies overhead, and they carpet bomb the island with perfect precision, taking out all the hostile erusean forces. At the head of those 8 planes, you see 3 scratches on the tail of the lead plane

For some reason so many old Ace Combat 5 feels in this mission and it’s amazing. I think my favorite so far. Hope DLC will be great too.

Homeward’s basically up there with The Inferno as one of, if not the most, brutal AC missions ever story-wise.
