Figma was a great support for beginner designers. if you are living in USA you might have USD to pay CC prices, but in other parts of the world it is huge money to spend especially if you are not making profit out of it. not the best news for the community.
P.S. we have an answer "Figma or Xd?" question... I started with Xd and since I used Figma I never wanted to go back to Xd.

The thing is we are not sure if the die hard community will still stay with Figma now Adobe has acquired them out.

Figma had provided so much value to the design community that’s why it was so popular, not sure if they can continue to do so now.

Trying to look for a silver lining. But abobe is awful and overpriced. I really hope figma stays true. But in reality I think it's over 😭

It was fun while it lasted .. Adobe will kill this app. Expect bloatware, crazy prices ...no thanks

I think what Adobe really wants are all the Figma users. Sure they will keep the team to try and appease and keep the userbase, maybe they can do a few upgrades to their exisitng portfolio, but in the end there is a reason so many don't like Adobe and don't/can't use their products, and its not really about the product themselves, its about the prices, and their overbearing ecosystem. I don't expect many to stick with Adobe for long.

I love Figma and use it for my work everyday. I'm really scared about what it means for the evolution of the app and the impact on the community.
Adobe XD does have some nice features, but it really is an inferior product for collaborative teams. I used both professionally.

I hate the market hold Adobe has over the creative industry. I'm really hoping they don't mess this up.

The one small benefit I see in this merger for PRO users is the possibility of Figma being included in the Creative cloud, meaning there will be less overhead cost for both my personal and business licenses.
However, I really hope they don't increase the cost of Figma for people who want to use it as a standalone app or removing the FREE element.

It was only a matter of time. A product as good and as innovative as Figma can only remain free to use for so long.

I just started learning figma to get some space from adobe but with this acquisition my hands are just in the air.

At this stage, I would say that tools don't matter. You can probably make a good layout in PowerPoint. But yeah, I am a bit worried about junior designers who would have to shell out money for CC's predatory pricing. They can switch back to Sketch or they can try Lunacy. Who knows this may even create an opportunity for a new startup. With lot of people choosing the free plan, Figma was running low on funds and this was bound to happen. Sad day for designers. But I will repeat this again that it's you as a designer who is special and not the tool.

This is the right amount of detail that I needed to understand why my Twitter feed exploded yesterday 😄

As someone who left Adobe and switched to Affinity, this is truly worrisome news.

I was devastated reading the news. Due to Figma being such a forerunner in the UX/UI market(that too free for an individual having almost full access to everything) it kinda forced Adobe to give more thought and start developing Adobe XD at a faster speed. By the merger in a way they have removed their prime competitor which has its pros and cons. One big disadvantage I see here is the growth a company puts due to its competitor's progress is gonna vanish or in a sense slow down quite a bit.

I believe Adobe benefits more here in the long run by gaining the inside working and being able to take Adobe CC to the browser.

I really hope figma doesn't lose its charm and focus to giving amazing user centric software purely focus on ease of designing and collaboration :(

Mizko long time fan, I have to wait and see on so many things. The internet exploded with the normal fear of acquisitions. All I hear is very positives from the internal change over. As an "acquired" person i know way too much, and not allowed to speak till things are real. Look forward to tons of things when it becomes official. Community, drive, innovation should not only stay put, but get more resources. Much love!

Love your coverage of this Mizko! Praying that Adobe will enhance and not destroy Figma! 🙏

Well it was nice while it lasted.

Penpot looks promising and pretty similar to Figma so it shouldn't be a big learning curve. I will be giving it a try
