@25:12 you can put a hole in the floor. If you select the surface tool and create a new surface the size of the opening needed for the stairs, then open setting and enable the "cutout" it will put a hole in the floor for you.

I have altered the wall height of my original plan and now the second floor won't meet the first floor, any suggestions?
