Exploring the Old Cemetery in the Ghost Town of Candelaria, Nevada

Ghost towns like Candelaria often have large graveyards. I spent part of an afternoon exploring what’s left of the cemetery at Candelaria. This was one of the largest cemeteries I’ve encountered. At one point, the population of Candelaria reached about 2500 people, so it makes sense that the graveyard is large. Most of the graves were unmarked rock mounds, but I did find a few tombstones with legible engravings.

Wow Frank these old graves are interesting, it's a shame most of them are forgotten like the 2 people from Italy. I could walk around there for hours reading headstones.

Thanks Frank for honoring that man and for explaining what was on the stone. I wish I lived west, you’d be an amazing person to meet.

Frank, thanks for stopping and making a video of this cemetery, it’s definitely interesting, kind of sad that so many of the graves are unmarked.
The one headstone is County Cork in Ireland.
The 4K really pops in this video with high frame rate, great job!
Thanks for sharing, Frank.

Another great shoot! Places like these are oddly comfy. The Nevada "backdrop" really adds to the beauty of it. :)

Such a difference that the dry atmosphere in the West makes in as far as preserving these marble tombstones. They look freshly engraved after a century or more. As always, enjoyed it.

Long day, but finally here🎉 Eveything considered, it seems unions got these men good headstones. Unions might not always work, but boy, do they make a difference when they work as they should.

Cementaries are really beautiful places ❤

Thanks for the video, Frank! I enjoyed going on this walk with you 😊

Thanks Frank. As you know, I document old cemeteries and gravesites as well. Remarkable how many of those 'old timers' didn't live to be all that old. And lots of children as well.

Probably never would have known this place existed if not for this video. Thanks for uploading!

Cool video Frank. It's so sad how sick society is at times that we have to have signs at cemeteries saying to not desecrate the graves... looks like that one was hit by a .22 three times?! Those burial mounds look like something from a Clint Eastwood Western movie. Awesome stuff though man. I'd like to explore in Nevada for sure.

You should do some research on a bunch of random people buried there or in other ghost town cemeteries, and do a deep dive into their lives. That would be quite interesting. I bet it would garner quite a few more views!

Just like these people we will be completely forgotten in a 100 years time. Would be cool if someone could trace their great grandchildren

I think, when it reads Native Co Cork Ireland, it indicates that the person is originally from County Cork in Ireland.

Interesting. I certainly hope that the gravesites are recorded somewhere. I bet some relatives dont know where family members have been buried.
