I've always been very musically adept and could sing well enough to stay in tune, on rhythm and all that, but I took lessons some years ago for a couple of years and it definitely made a difference! There were things about technique I didn't know before and it really helped with that.

Have always been singing since I was a kid and was part of a choir and singing in church. Took voice lessons early this year and yes, it is worth it. Learned so many things when it comes to technique and I sing more healthily now. Also, I currently work on my weak points that I thought can never be fixed. It gives me more confidence and more aware what I can sing and what I can't.

Began taking lessons a year ago for the first time. I definitely see/hear progress. Friends are inspired to pursue their creative interests when I tell them. It brings me joy and has saved my sanity during the height of the pandemic to have a creative outlet

I played an instrument (Oboe) growing up, but just started voice lessons about 1 year ago. The difference has been in my singing has been transformational!

I had significant challenges with throat, neck, and tongue tension. While I continue to work on this, I’m definitely able to sing more freely and with markedly better support, tone, and placement.

To Freya’s point, learning to sing has been a journey, with big changes followed by some plateaus, then more gains in other areas. But I now have a much better sensation of when something feels right.

Ans these are things I’d never have picked up without an experienced voice coach able to hear, identify, and assess the problem.

So I’m a big fan of having a voice coach if it’s feasible for the singer.

Hi Freya! I have been watching your videos for a long time now. I love them.

I am a speech and language pathologist. I have had voice therapy patients. I know the anatomy. I have sung all of my life and yet, I have always had a difficult time singing... wanting a natural (not a fake, imposed) vibrato... I have always wanted a clear voice, strong with great control.

My range has diminished with age, and I experience vocal fatigue quite frequently. I had a great vocal coach as a teen, but he passed away and I have tried some voice coaches but have not been able to find a good coach since then.
I sing at the temple I go to...people compliment my voice, but when I hear myself, I do not think it's a good voice at all.

You're right when you said voice lessons are very valuable. I need lots of help!

How about could you please help me with some words? What to look for after suffering a strangulation and subsequent surgery... To begin to use my voice again. It sounded like grovely so I haven't used it since. Sounds odd. But I don't recognize the sounds that came from my face. Where do I begin?

Way too self conscious here ✋

I’m really scared to get a teacher, because I’ve got no confidence in myself… but like to the extent that I know, my throat will close off on me.
I almost got a teacher a year ago, but I chickened out last minute.

I can’t sing in front of anyone, I used to be that kid who would sing all the time and just not care, but then I heard my voice in a recording XD

If you charge 200 USD dollar definitely NOT. I am a singing teacher/coach myself with a 25 years pro carrier under my belt in major European theaters. I am sorry, but your prices are ABUSIVE. Pity, because I was willing to work with you and share knowledge. However, 200 bucks? Are we nuts? Do you think you are going to help a singer ( At any stage of his/her journey) by placing so much economical pressure on them.
I teach because I LOVE TO HELP. I make a good living out of it, but I would NEVER charge more than 70 dollars a lesson If any. This is not an attack or a “destructive” criticism. I really love your content. (I might share your views or not) but We as experienced singers and pedagogues must pass on our legacy. It is a moral duty. Charging people 200 bucks ( No matter how good you are ) is just INSANE and unfair. Sorry… you are not that good for that price… in fact I do not think there is anybody good enough to charge as much. Greetings and keep up the good work.
