DIY Folding Sawbuck

Показать описание
How to easily build a sturdy and folding sawbuck for less than 20 € or $. Takes about 1-2 hours to complete.

Sizes and measures in imperial units:
- 10 pieces of 4 ft lumber boards, I used 2x4's.
- Three 5 inch 5/16 bolts
- 5/16 washers
- 5/16 nuts
- 3½ inch outdoor screws (I used bit too short screws which I changed later)
- Measure 29 inches from the long end of the diagonal edge.
- Drill 5/16 inch hole in the middle of the 29 inch marks.
- Measure 28.5 inches from the long end of the diagonal edge.

My neighbor is about to bring down a big ol' ash in the next week or two and I'll be getting most of the wood. Gonna have to make one of these. Thanks for posting.

Made one this morning. Real impressed with how much easier it is to cut wood now. Plus the chain is away from the ground so its stays sharper for longer.

The video playback was fast, but there are settings in Youtube to slow the playback down. If the video was slower viewers would be complaining it is too slow. For the information provided and quality of the content, the video was great. Thank you for including footage of it in use too on a variety of sized limbs and logs.

The term "sawbuck" in youtube...holy mooly...what a lot of ideas. After scanning a few, found this one from Lasse, and it was clearly the best. However, I don't understand the 28" line below the 29", as I found the 30degree cuts, when set up on a piece of plywood (I know outside won't be as flat and even as that) the 28" line was wrong. I found 28.5" to be the correct measurement. I would suggest taking one of the assembled "X" pieces, make the 30degree cuts flat with a flat surface, take a small scrap of 2x4 and mark a line...mine was at 28.5 but yours might be different. Also, you may want to put a washer between the two pieces in the "X" brace. Great video and thank you!

Love the helper!! Very helpful video. Thanks.
Hi I eventually got it made and it is very useful. I made an addition to your design by adding a further "V"section to allow a smaller cut.

I used one 4ft length cut in two.
Bolted it with one bolt and slotted it in the middle of 2 Xs. I'd like to add a photo but can't!

Great video. Me and my son build it tonight. Thanks for the instructional. My only issue is that the five inch bolts were way too long. I'm going to switch to 3 and 1/2 in bolts.

That young lad wanted to help a lot more, and should have let him. And should get a decent hand saw, not a small toothed miter saw.
Sawbucks are very handy to have. Like the video.

Why do the instructions say we need EIGHT bolts. Wouldn't it only use SIX? Or THREE?

you have 2 measurements in your decscrfiption, , , 28.5 and 29
i'm assuming 28.5 is the correct one?
