Why not just put them in the car?
My mum use to open the boot, then open the car door for us to get in. She left the boot open while she put the shopping in and put the trolly back and then closed it.
That way we weren't in a hot car....
This " hack" is so unnecessary and not to mention, the kids can just unclip it, or may have a dress on and no trousers loops
