It is amazing how quickly you can enter music with Dorico once you get the key commands memorized. It's like speed typing. Really great product.

Brilliant video! Not only for learning many little things in Dorico, but also how music in other genres is made. Thank you, John!

Nice to get these little tricks, even though I'm not writing for big band. I'm interested in combo writing, in particular Motown .

very useful session - great reminder of lots of features (not just relevant to big band).

You should also consider WARPIV, which is possibly the most comprehensive of them all. Also giving you a like for the brilliant video description! 😂

I'm completely confused on the Clef Overrides function. I typically compose with Baritone Sax in Bass Clef -- isn't that what most people do? To make it easier to compare with the Upright and Bass Trombone? But sometimes I want to see it in Treble Clef, especially in a layout consisting of just the saxes. If I manually change the clef to Treble, all the notes are WAY below the staff (I have the intsrument set so written Middle C-4 sounds like E-flat 2). I've messed around with the overrides but nothing ever seems to change in any of the layouts. What am I missing?

What is the font closest to the Clinton Roemer (THE ART OF MUSIC COPYING) method?

I'm a Dorico user and these videos are extremely helpful, Thank you. I bought Note Performer and I'm very happy with the orchestral sounds, but not so much for the jazz/big band sounds. If I were to by Broadway Big Band, will it run through Note Performer or is it running on it's own platform?

I can not find the boxed text option in paragraph section. It doesnt match what is being presented which is weird. Anyone know why its not in my version? I have the latest version of Dorico

I can't figure out how to add the text "Solo" to a player (in this case trumpet) so that the parts for the other players indicate it. If I use Shift+X I can insert the text, but the other players' parts aren't indicating this. I do recall there's local and then global text -- ???

If you can do a session on how to get Kontakt instruments to properly work with Dorico playing techniques and articulations, you'll make me very happy.

Thanks for this video. I am very excited about what we discover through you in this program. I have a question? I used the mordant in ornaments...it is written graphically but in play I can't hear it! The same thing happens with the ornamental joints in the jazz section. What can we do to hear in play? Thanks!

What's your name so I can find you in the Dorico forums?

I don't know a single composer or arranger who writes "Bari." as an abbreviation of Baritone. Bari Sax is always just fine. Or Baritone Sax if you prefer. But I've NEVER seen Bari. Sax and I would think that person a psychopath if I ever did see it.
