Alright, I've got one of those peeler/corer things (well, it's from the 70's, but it's identical other than it having a clamp rather than a suction thing), and it's genuinely fantastic.
Like sure, it doesn't come up all the time, but it's a godsend if you're making apple pie-having to peel, core and finely slice like 10 apples would kinda suck. That does it in like two minutes.
EDIT: I have now read the comments and realise that everyone and their mother (and probably their grandmother), has already mentioned the pie thing. Oh well.

That first peeler has been around for a long time and they still keep making it. It's great for making apple pies as you just cut the spiral once and get a whole pile of apple pieces ready to go for pie filling.
