Home Office Game-Changer? 👀 Link in comments

I got sick of getting office chairs that were $300 and having them break down in 1-2 years, so two years ago I decided to get the Steelcase Gesture. I know it's expensive, and I had my doubts when I ordered it, but I'm glad I did.

It's already been worth the money in comfort alone and I wish I'd saved up the cash and pulled the trigger on a good desk chair years ago, considering that a lot of us work from home now and spend a good deal of time on our rumps in front of computers.

TL;DR: it's the best home-office investment I’ve made for my comfort and productivity.

No wonder he didn’t post the price. $1500 is way too much lol. He made it seem like it’s $300

The keyword is "Invest"... if you hear that word in a video, you know it's going to be expensive.

This chair is now over $1500 new - this isn't just inflation anymore LOL

$842 is just too rich for my blood. Looks like a cool chair though!

I just buy used versions of Steelcase chairs for myself and family. The Amia and Think chairs go for 100-200 on Craigslist.

We have them in our company... They are really great to sit on even for hours!

Got the Leap over the Gesture and loving it. The arms on the Gesture look great, but most high-end chairs have sufficiently adjustable arms. Far more important is the seat pan and how the chair helps or hinders your spine.

I was going ohhh this looks nice to have better then mine. Then saw they price and throw up 😢

Only problem I have with this chair is the seat pad goes flat super fast 😔. And another problem I have is with Steelcase themselves, they don’t give the option to add rollerblade casters and replacing their casters voids the warranty

amazing chair as always but its hilarious to see the gesture promoted without being named, and almost framing it as a new thing lol

People can say the money is worth it all the time ($1500+), but, there's only so much a chair will do to preserve your health. They are NOT a fix-all end-all solution to your sedentary lifestyle or chair-bound obligations. I'd much rather get a FAR more affordable chair like a Clatina Mellet or a Ticova Ergo and pour the remaining funds into something like good footwear/attire to get active on foot, or a decent entry level bike for road or trail use. A gym membership would also work. And, if I'm feeling real fancy, maybe even a nicer mattress or a regular chiro visit. Those two are likely well out of the price range, but if you've got the money to buy a Gesture, well...

It's important to preserve your posture/back while sitting, but if that's all you're doing, you WILL have issues at some point. Don't treat chairs as though they're a gift from God, I've found far too many blindly trust in their marketing and neglect their health in the process.

Why are all the poors complaining about the price? I have a leather one with the factory headset. $2, 500 after taxes. Stop complaining about end-game quality, if you can’t afford it. Here’s a tip, stop being poor! Quality products will cost its value!

P.S. to everyone saying Herman Miller is cheaper, I literally put my Embody in my office room, where I spend the least time. The Gesture is in my gaming room where my gaming PC is located, and the room I sit in the most.

The Herman Miller is cheaper for a reason. It doesn’t compare to the Gesture.

So if you’ve never tried either, the Gesture is better… for me, at 215lbs/6’4. But that’s just my biased, subjective experience. Take it with a grain of salt, as I’ve heard the chair isn’t the most comfortable for people under 5’8, again those are subjective experiences from those reviewers.

The Embody looks fancy, it looks futuristic, and everyone calls Herman Miller “the Ferrari” of office chairs… I mean that’s cool and all, but for me, the Gesture dunks on the Embody 🤷🏼‍♂️

I have a steel case gesture chair with the headrest for 1k. Bought locally from a family owned office retailer. My back issues went away overnight and so far I don’t regret the investment. You spend more time on your computer chair than you probably do your bed, why not treat it as such?

$1800 for an office chair…

I’ll paste a comment below that sums it up perfectly

“I bought this thinking I could write it off on my taxes but then my boss explained to me how deductions work and I realized that I could not. Anyways, I have a thousand dollar office chair now. Is it worth a thousand dollars? Probably not, but I'm stuck with it.

It is super comfy and just about everything is adjustable, but once you find your preferred settings, you probably won't ever touch them again. Sitting in this chair is not a life changing experience. After awhile it just becomes a regular chair instead of a thousand dollar chair.

When guests sit in this chair, they have no clue that it costs a thousand dollars, and when I tell them, they look at me like I'm an idiot and seem generally unimpressed -- bragging about my thousand dollar office chair is part of the reason I bought a thousand dollar office chair, so I feel that the value is slightly diminished when I don't get smug satisfaction out of telling people about it.

Oh by the way, this thing ships fully assembled and the box is enormous so I hope you live on the first floor”

Lol man’s getting paid to advertise a $1500 chair. I ain’t paying more than $300 when I can simply add a $5 pillow when the butt cushion gives out.

Imagine talking about a Steelcase and calling it “this chair of Amazon”
