I always thought slack packing was just what you did when you got tired of carrying your pack. I didn’t realize it could also be a strategic decision to address pack issues or assist you with complying with trail restrictions. I still have so much to learn about thru hiking but thanks to the wonderful AT hiker community.....I am learning.

Nothing wrong with a strategic slack! Refreshing every now and then. 😃

Such an incredible setting for this adventure! It feels like you’re alone in the universe when you look over the blue horizon and then there you are in a community of fellow travellers!

Glad to hear you fixed your pack issues. You should tell us what you decided to send home/ditch. Happy Trails

Reta, I'm surprised to see everything so barren still with little sign of spring. I assumed that you being so far south that the trees would be budding by now. Loving the updates, thx for including us in your trip. How many miles have you done so far?

Reta, the beginning of the video looks a lot like Panola Mountain with the granite outcropings, land owned by our 3rd great grandpa Jennings Hulsey, a revolutionary soldier, received in 202 acre land lots and also land purchased by his daughter Serena Hulsey Swann and John Augustus Swann (later the Little Mountain country club). You must've felt right at home! Did you see any billy goats to chase?
