I hugely appreciate this video, I often come back to it to re-centre my thinking,

I have no idea about ikegai, but in the video there is a simplification and focus here that makes me wonder how much is lost:

Meaning is fulfilled, needs are satisfied. That is one axis.

Another coordinate goes from self-centred concepts (I-concepts of the good life) to YOU- and WE-concepts to concepts that deal with the creation of a culture of happiness (role model dimensons by N. Peseshkian).

Then there is the question of communication and interaction.

For this, the 3 culture stages (dominant, funkitonal and caring) have to be considered. A trivial concept of happiness in complex systems may lead to niches of primitive comfort or go astray. ("They burnt out completely in search of simple fulfilment" ).

And the question of the interdimensional resonance of the mundane and the spiritual (spirituality, faith, embeddedness in something higher) is also missing.

I suggest investing one or two thoughts there again, even if one step has been taken in pursuit. I like the grafic and and the video too, but I am still not satisfied by the approach.

Thank you for clarifying this information .I'd like to use it as a source to support others and appreciate the clarity and authenticity of your video. "Ikigai is like the air we breath." Love that.

This is so true! Mogi-san is the go-to expert on understanding ikigai!

The popular western view of ikigai (Sweet spot) is misleading. There is really no such framework for ikigai. Ikigai is much simpler and unique to us all.

Thank you so much Mogi-san!

The diagram was drawn by a Spanish astrologer, in a self help book, in the 1990’s.

A famous blogger in the early days of the internet (I can’t remember his name) was responsible for saying this diagram was Ikigai and it’s followed since then.

Thank you for explaining clearly.

I've just found that ikigai is a popular word in the world. I'm glad to know that as a Japanese but felt a little strange about the famous diagram. You diagram really makes sense to me. I appreciate it! Thanks!

Thank you for discussing this in your channel. Its simple and clear. Before I encountered ikigai was already using the principles of rekki and of course I appreciate the joys that this existence can bring. And that joy is really in different layers but all proceed towards something felt and appreciated. The diagram just made identifying and appreciating them easier and in reikki terms it makes identifying what I am grateful for easier.

This makes more sense. I feel that “we” always try to over complicate things and try to westernize it when truly, it’s just so simple.

Embarrassingly I haven't read IKIGAI, but on this occasion, I'm going to read it in German.

Hi, Ken. I learn a little bit about diagrams. If you draw Ikigai diagram like that in which there were intersections, what are the area of each intersection mean?
