As a child my mother would give me this teriffying look and say "carrr!" and that was usually enough to make me stop what ever I was about to do. Your somali is brilliant brother Sam, well done.

I love watching your videos. They're educational, but also your love of language and of Somali culture and your good nature and sense of humor come through. I'm sorry you decided to stop making them, even though I understand it. Mahadsanid.

lol i is one classic expression in the somali language. "Wirr" and "carr" kinda go hand in hand and they both mean "I freaking dare you to do that and you must reap the consequence"

Wa'alaikumu'ssalam wa rahmatu'llahi wa barakatuh.

arki don tah if you don't continue to make these great videos  :D

In colloquial Syrian Arabic we say: "Ya wailak!" which means pretty much the same as "Woe to you!" and I presume also :)

I think the closest definition to wirr is "don't you dare". Like if someone were to do something they weren't allowed, then their mother would be like "Wirr 👌"

well it does have a meaning and it means *don't you even dare*, when you keep doing something wrong and your mother already told you to stop a couple times and is finally she sick of you not listening and looks at you and says : *'wir waryaa/nayaa....orat shaqa yeelo'*
