"Today, the Kimberley Process ... accounts for 99.8% of the global trade in rough diamonds". The claim is not believable, and this video is clearly propaganda. A clear explanation of why can be found in Foreign Policy Magazine, "Rough Cut" article of 2012. The process of polishing diamonds in Surat allows a good proportion -- perhaps a third -- of illicit diamonds to be mixed in with Kimberley diamonds (many of which are still mined in ways that are environmentally degrading, and performed by poorly paid and child workers). See "Global Witness leaves Kimberley Process" for a clearer lens on this. (If the 99.8% claim is about "conflict diamonds", it may be accurate, because that's a technical term -- but "diamonds produced in conditions of violent conflict" is a greater proportion -- see Global witness documents: "Global Witness was originally part of the KP, we stepped away in 2011 after years of attempting to enact change within a certification scheme severely hamstrung by its limited definition of ‘conflict diamonds’ to ‘rough diamonds used by rebel movements to finance wars against legitimate governments’."

So does this mean that if I legally import rough (uncut) diamonds from Africa into Europe WITHOUT this Kimberley certificate, customs at the European border will confiscate those stones from me?

And is it any diference if I import a lot of previousely cutted in Africa diamonds? Should I have a Kimberly certificate on cutted diamonds in this case?

Funding war, conflict, and gaining territory is the way this world works. It's a joke to me that anyone would genuinely try and "make less conflict". Hahahaha yeah let me know where you live, where money doesn't do the talking, sounds like a bunch of hippies... I'll move there ASAP though.
