I think for the majority of us the Old faithful Weber 22 kettle is the way to go it's simple, practical an affordable. Great for the beginner and loved by veterans of barbecue.

Who is Aaron

Just joking. I know it's Ben Franklin's brother. Nice toaster by the way.

I still have my grandfather's PK grill from the 50's.

I grew up using a original PK grill that was my parents. For holidays my dad would come over & we would smoke a turkey on it. As I got older I would cook myself on it. I used it until I was about 18. It needed the inside racks to be replaced. Life got busy & it sat around for years & years. When we cleaned moms house out I took it to my property for future use one day. I can't have a grill were I live right now. The body was well built the aluminum frame needs a little love but one day it will smoke again. I can't remember who's video but somewhere there's a history lesson on them. Be awesome to see you cook on it.

I lusted over the PK as an add-on to my pellet smoker for honest-to-goodness grilling. But my head was turned by the big red kamado grill. I loved it so much I never used the pellet smoker and now it’s been adopted by a friend. My kamado grill does excellent hot and fast and low and slow. I don’t see any particular advantage of the PK over a Weber grill at half the price. I’ll be interested in seeing what Jeremy does with it.

I like the ash covers but there’s still nothing that can touch Weber’s ash clean out system. That’s makes maintenance and ease of use so much better.

Not sure I'm diggin' the left-handed hinge. It kind of renders the left shelf useless. Any reason they didn't go the conventional route and hinge it in the back?

I have that new PK original 300 whatever.... couple months after I got it the Franklin one was announced. The ONLY difference is the color, the front shelf, the left shelf (mine only has right), and the little shelf brackets underneath... mine has the holes for them... so if you don't want your brackets I could mount them on mine... but.... that's it. nothing else is different. So you're buying some shelves and brackets and a different powdercoat and a badge.
Anyway... PK grills are awesome... definitely love mine... amazing improvements from the original... for the price... best option.

Just realized the AF in the model number probably stands for “Aaron Franklin”.

When I first saw it on his website a couple weeks ago I initially thought it stood for another “AF” meaning, and have to admit I thought it was cooler then!

Great channel and content as always Jeremy!

I have the PK360 and it is by far my favorite. I also have a Weber Master Touch and a Pitt Barrel Cooker. All have there pros and cons, be it price, accessories, or ease of use. I find myself using the PK 360 more often, because of the heat retention and ease of temperature control for my needs but $$$$ . A close second is the Pit Barrel Cooker, for ribs and chicken. If I could only chose two those would be my choices. The Webber is a classic though. No matter the grill, I enjoy cooking outdoors.

Was going to buy one here in Australia a couple weeks ago I think its the PK 360, but at $1599 I thought a bit of a rip off so I bought a fully optioned SNS grill with every attachment imaginable for less than $800, best bbq I’ve bought, so versatile

Maybe it would be better to get the original pk300? What is so much different about the original pk300 and the AF300 to justify the price difference and is it worth it?

it looks cheaper built than the regular?

It seems like the Weber 22 has significantly more rack space would you say that there is adequate space for when you are grilling out when guests are over?

The PK seems great for everyday grilling if you have a small family but if you have the whole family over for Sunday dinner idk if it can handle the workload efficiently

more things need to be this shade of blue, it really pops. They knew how to make things look awesome in the 50s and this really touches on that style

I really like the extra shelves and hanging bars. I get frustrated with mine with only one shelf.
