Today, Trevor is unboxing and cooking on the NEW Original PK Grill and Smoker Aaron Franklin Edition!! We've heard a lot about this grill from the followers on Youtube. Watch as Trevor unboxes and off set cooks on this grill!

The NEW original PK is very similar to the others, but there are some upgrades to the Aaron Franklin unit. Some of the editions are bells and whistles like the shelves underneath the the unit. Something really cool Trevor pointed out was that when you buy an accessory for your grill you can actually turn the lid of this grill into another bbq!! Wow, that is such an innovative idea. so the AF edition is the same grill as the regular 300, right? just added the table features...

Good looking for sure, but any real benefits over a traditional Weber Kettle. Looks a bit tight for offset cooking.

Ironically, works like offset cooking in the weber kettle. PK grills most often cite "originating in the early 1950's" which leads me to believe Weber might have been first in 1952, but we know of some PK's having been sold as early as 1954 or 53. It may just be two great minds thinking alike, one in the south, and one in the north.

Regardless, covered cooking was the invention that brought BBQ to the backyard of every everyday American beyond what the open top charcoal brazier offered. I like seeing history celebrated, and I like seeing more people introduced to the flavor and accessibility of charcoal cooking.
