Russia: "Don't join NATO I'll protect you"
Finland: "Protect me from what?"
Russia: "From what I'm going to do to you if you join NATO"

Nukes are already in Kaliningrad and have been for decades: this threat is empty.

As a Finn, I am pleased about our little country being mentioned and talked so highly of. As a European, I am worried a bit WHY people are nowdays more able to place us on the map.

If Russia needs to move nukes closer to the border then that's a sign they're not as intercontinental as they claim ...

Pretty sure they already have nuclear ☢️ weapons there already. Especially in Kaliningrad. Difference is now they will publicize it.

Well, we in Sweden already experienced how much the Sovietunion respected neutral countries with the Whiskey on the rocks incident. For anyone who don't know about that one, it was when a Soviet submarine managed to get stuck on a reef not far from a Swedish major naval bases Karlskrona( 10 km (6.2 mi) ) well inside swedish territorial waters. The Swedish government always suspected it was nuclear armed and it has sinced been confirmed. Soviet union always claimed it was a "navigation error" that just happened to bring it that close to one of Swedens major naval bases.

As a Finn I ams now sure, that Finland will apply for a membership in NATO in May. A similar discussion about a NATO membership is also going on in Sweden, but the Swedes are a few weeks behind us in their process. Because Sweden has no land border with Russia, the security policy has had a much smaller meaning there than in Finland. That explains the delay. So it is probable, that Finland will wait some time, before the application will be sent, so that Sweden has time to climb to the same NATO train. But it is possible, that Sweden will not do that, but she will decide the NATO question after the parliamentary elections in September. It can also happen, that Sweden will not join NATO after all, but I assume, that this alternative is rather unlikely.
