We return once more to the desolate and mysterious worlds of Video Games set in empty, unknown, and dying worlds. From the rain-soaked ruins of Rain World to the solemn ancient lands of Shadow Of The Colossus. The unknown horrors of Mourning Tide and The Children of Clay. The title of "No One Lives Under the Lighthouse" is genius too because it lets you know iinstantly that someone absolutely does, so you're instantly filled with this tension and dread of when it's gonna culminate.

OMG I WAS LITERALLY LIKE “huh wonder if he’ll talk about rain world” thank you, I love the game so much and I’m glad more people are giving it recognition

It's not entirely the same, but the Portal games do an excellent job of showing you an empty, lonely world. Portal 1 especially leans in on the lonely part, but Portal 2 dives into the history of Aperture and really gives that sense of a dead, decaying world despite the fact there is actually a decent amount of dialogue.

This video popped up on my feed 30 seconds after being uploaded. Whatever you're doing with the algorithm, you're doing it right lol

Shadow of the colossus has and will always be my favorite game. Played it with my dad when I was young but we never beat it. He eventually passed but when I grew I got a ps4. I immediately got GOW 2016 and shadow of the colossus remake. Finally beat and it’s still the most beautiful experience ever. Rip dad but thanks for showing me that absolute cinema of a game. 10/10 peak.

MAN that Vermis animation was so amazing I thought it was official and spent 15 minutes looking for it, amazing video and great work.

Vermis is one of the greatest pieces of art/world building I have had the pleasure of laying eyes on. What Plastiboo did is just amazing.

Before my comment is also abandoned and discovered years later, I’d like to say thank you for what you do. Your videos inspire me, and I love watching each new one. The first episode of video games with dying worlds, was one of my all time favorites. I haven’t finished this one yet, but I’m sure it will be similarly amazing. Thank you!

Thank you for including rain world in this. I wasn't sure it would count because the world isn't technically dead because of all the flora and fauna. But in my opinion it definitely counts as a dead world because it's creators are long gone

If you enjoy Vermis I would also recommend Godhusk. Another great book about a destroyed world set in a futuristic setting. It's a self contained story with mysteries, multiple endings and amazing artwork.

I watch the part 1 everynight before going to sleep, your song choices, your deep voice, idk why but it makes me fall asleep, thanks for the pt.2

I don't understand how a channel that has content as interesting as this, with quality as high as this, and editing done as well as this, doesn't have more subscribers. Criminal.

One game that really made me feel the themes you've touched on in the past video and this one, is Observer. Just the idea of people disappearing into online so much that the world feels dead and lonely while everyone around you is plugged in and youre trying to solve a murder is insane - not to mention the horror / psychological themes the game puts out there. Would be a good one to play if youre into things like this.

Vermis is a very interesting setting for a souls-like TTRPG campaign. Actually running it, doesn't need a lot of additional work to get it work. Everyone at the table loves the world crafted by Plastiboo!

I love the ethereal, calm background music you use in your videos. Fits them perfectly, especially the "dead world" videos.

Man, you and Jacob Geller are my favourite YouTubers. The way you interweave psychological intrigue with gaming is amazing. Honestly, you guys are the only good YouTube essayists I bother watching. Amazing job! I hope to see more.

i highly suggest you check out the game DarkWood by Acid Wizard studios, i think you'd appreciate the vibe and atmosphere the game provides. Also takes place in a dying "zone" not necessarily the whole world but it is a fantastic setting for the game to take place.
Great video as always! Was very happy to see RainWorld make an appearance
