Honor will only be upheld in war so long as the enemy follows the rules. By destroying a hospital fleet, they dishonored themselves, and lost the privilege of a "fair fight." Rule #1 of fighting Humans: Don't attack the medical ships, structures, or even personnel if you can help it. If a medical personnel is on a part of a combat ship's crew, and the ship blows up, that's on them. If you specifically target the med bay, that's on you. If you target the medical ships or hospitals, you're doomed.

Reminds me of the Galactic Civilizations 2, where humans are the most friendly, diplomatic and mercantile of the races on the roster, in fact they were the ones who shared FTL drive tech around just so they have others to interact with. But gods help you if you mistake that for weekness, they will switch their economy to war footing, attack you and they will not relent untill you are dead. Drengin are generally think themselves as the biggest and baddest of that setting but humans look at them and go like "yeah, been there, done that, got a t-shirt to prove it"
