What’s life like with Herman the Morkie… aka Instagram doggy star @HermanintheHood? A mix of Maltese and Yorkshire Terrier, the Morkie is an adorable little furball with plenty love to go around. And that’s part of the reason why Herman is so popular on Instagram – his personality shines through the pictures that he takes with his dad, David. We got to spend the day with David and Herman to experience what it’s like to live with a Morkie. From Morkie health and temperament to shedding and exercise needs, David and Herman give you a behind-the-scenes look at this dog breed.

I've had my Morkie, who I named Mindy (remember that show) for 12 years. She is an incredible pup not to mention adorable! She is needy but I love that about her. Mindy does many tricks and loves to travel anywhere in an airplane or car. She sits in the dry sink every morning waiting for me to get ready for the day. We love her.

Just bought a Morkie. She was born July 29th so she won't be coming home for another 2 months. I've had Maltese before. I'm really looking forward to Finley being in my life.

I have 2 golden colored mollies. For the staining around the face peroxide works great. When I give them a bath, I just poor some on a wash cloth and rub into fur around eyes, mouth and chin. Then rinse with water and do it again. It may not look clean while wet but once dry there is a noticeable difference. Be careful DO NOT GET IN EYES. But use lots, don't just dab it on there. And scrub the dirty fur.

My morkie was Baxter. He was my first dog as an adult and was perfection. Sadly, he died when he was 8 from lymphoma. I have 2 dogs now and none compare to Baxter. My next dog will be another Morkie. I didn't get one after Baxter because I thought it would be hard not to compare it to Baxter but no, I want another one of those perfect little dogs.

We have a four pound Morkie named Mindy and she is just as sweet as can be. She loves people.

Very cute dog! The tear stains are from eating poor quality food. If you change the food to raw or slow air dried (Ziwi peaks or similar), his eyes will get much better. My petite golden doodle used to have stains from the standard “premium” dog food. Now I feed him a combo of home made and Ziwi Peaks and he hasn’t had tear stains in years. I also do titers ( vs shots every year), and no flea or other pills..

I lost my Morkie "Teddy" 5 months ago. I miss him everyday. My dog behaved just like Herman. you have a great pup. enjoy him. I wish I could have mine back. I want another one, but my heart still hurts too much.

I have chinese cresteds and love having tiny dogs I can toss in a Sherpa bag and take on adventures! I also love the trend I see lately of men realizing that it's ok for them to choose and enjoy a small, cute little pup for their companion, especially when they live in the city or enjoy traveling!
