How many air dogfight vids did I have to watch before this guy introduced the egg concept!!! May God bless this man.

You have the wisdom to make a fairly complicated process understandable to us common folks. Thank you sir.

Hard to imagine retiring as a general. One minute everyone is saluting you, looking up to you in awe, the next day you're a nobody. As one soldier once told me, "When a Major tells you to drop your pants, you drop your pants." And that's a Major! Once retired, people might not even hold the door open for you...

What a great way to visualise it.
Never have and never will (aside from the time I took a ride in a Pitts S-2)(With an ex RN pilot).
But thanks for the lesson.

I am so glad that this pilot explained such a complex subject in such a clear way. I had to explain to a friend that clear air, when a plane just drops, is no air and that our atmosphere is not a perfect shell surrounding our earth. On a commercial flight a plane went into a nose dive. The captain ordered the flaps down, only to be told that they tore off. The captain then ordered the landing gear down which created enough friction to slow the plane so the captain could safely land in a corn field. For those of you who are afraid to fly just trust your pilot.

I imagine that's a bit of a simplification, but it makes sense how he explained it
