To get started, make sure your Playstation 5 controller software is up to date & not plugged in to the PS5 with the USB-C go to settings & select sound, then go to Audio Output & enable 3D Audio for TX Speakers.

Then you need to measure the room acoustics for 3D Audio!

Quick Tip: Make sure that your TV volume is set to the volume you play games on! & Most importantly: The DualSense Microphone cannot be muted while doing this. If you controller microphone is muted, click the mute button again to unmute the DualSense controller to continue.

Click "NEXT" to begin 3D Audio measurements... Make sure your room is quiet while doing this.

Once the measurements are complete, you are done! Always make sure your PS5 3D Audio Sound Measurements are applied & turned on at all times for this to work.

I'd recommend turning it off outside of headphones. It gives some better than expected depth/surround effect, but at the cost of making everything sound muddy and tinny. Mileage is going to vary based on TV/room conditions, and audio is rather subjective. But simulated 3D/surround from speakers with never match headphones or actual surround speakers.

While using the TV speakers I actually consider the regular audio better than the 3D audio, while using headphones, the 3D setting is better of course. I think it´s because the room I play videogames is quite small, so the 3D audio sounds kinda confusing/messy. I don´t know if that´s the logical explination hahaha I just prefer the regular setting when not using headphones.

Wow. Thanks a lot, JG. Because I had my PS5 for output through my TV which eARC'd to my soundbar, the sound was 3D but very low quality. I thought the 3D switchover from my setting of DTS to LinearPCM was a mistake and culprit but it turns out I needed to switch to output directly from my soundbar -- which I always suspected I should have set it - and Oh Baby.
I various subscriptions that urge leaving a comment about the video but I didn't know how and wasn't all the motivated to learn. But this one of yours is so outstanding that I had to comment. Again, thanks.

Soundbars are better than TV speakers but nothing beats a true surround sound system in 5.1 or even atmos. I love my setup and curious how well 3D audio will improve when that becomes available for home theater setups

If you're using a sound bar that's connected to your TV via Earc then you need to set the ps5 Audio output to dolby.
