Turkey Asks to Join BRICS to Forge Ties Beyond West

Turkey has formally asked to join the BRICS group of emerging-market nations as it seeks to bolster its global influence, according to people familiar with the matter. The bloc is set to discuss its expansion at a summit in Russia in October. Bloomberg's Beril Akman reports.

Turkiye has been an EU candidate since more than 30 years. It should have joined BRICS much earlier as the white European States will never accept Turkiye in the EU and has been repeatedly told by a number of EU leaders since 3 decades.
