F-250 Solid Axle Swap - Reckless Wrench Garage

This was the easiest solid axle swap I have done! I swapped in a 1994 Ford Dana 60 from a F-350 into my 1996 F-250. All that was required was in unbolting the twin traction beam suspension, and bolting in the F-350 suspension components. I used a shackle reversal crossmember from Sky's offroad to get a better riding suspension during the process, but it is not necessary.

Can't believe that janky aluminum pitman arm puller actually worked without breaking! I bought one of the conical ones finally and it doesn't mess around.

I did the same thing to my '86 but did use aftermarket springs for a little lift. The Bilstein shocks that you used are also what I used and I can't say enough about them, A noticeable improvement to the ride. I did not move the shackles and I am perfectly happy with the ride. I'd love to see a comparison to see if the shackle kits really makes a difference.

Does it work with a 250 bricknose because I see stuff about the front of the frame being different, if so what solid front would basically bolt in?

You are doing exactly what I have planned. I'm living vicariously thru you. Have the sky kit with SD springs to go up front on mine too. It looks like it sits nice and level with the factory rears. How much lift did you get up front?

That website is impossible to find that part on

if I am adding a 4 inch lift and these reverse shackle kits does the 4 inch front lifted shock work ? or do I need to get taller ones ?

Is that why those trucks sync with concrete highways the forward shackles hmm

Maybe not cause the jeeps had that and don’t sync maybe cause the wheel base ah never mind

Great vid. Thanks! Did you have to lift the rear at all? I hear the F250 has about a 2 in block and F350 has a 4 inch. Any knowledge you can impart?

Why would you want to swap out the F250 TTB? I mean, you’ve already got all of the benefits of rough riding leafs, crappy tire wear, and oddball axle parts.

Joking aside, it’s a good looking truck, now that way it should have left the factory.

Those springs appear arched, are they Super Duty leaf's?

I'm just curious if this works the same on a F150, same model year

Guys, your even better off getting an 05 and up super duty front axle. Get the springs, arms, axle, etc. The coil spring front end is absolutely hands down a better ride in every way.

I see you went from 3 leafs to 2 leafs. I'll be doing the same, a 'custom' 3 leaf like yours back to 2 leafs with the RSK kit. My question, how did that effect the lift? Just from what i can see it looks like about a 2" lift from before to after, or did you do something else to the ride height?
