How Trump accidentally exposed Gucci (China wins tariffs)

Tariff update! Still crazy!
But while the U.S. wages economic war via tariffs, China is hitting back in more ways than one.

A series of TikToks are going viral about shopping directly with Chinese suppliers - straight up teaching consumers how to skip over middlemen like Amazon, Alibaba, Aliexpress, and even luxury brands - to buy straight from the source in Chinese factories.

Many American tiktok users are finding out for the first time that their products aren’t coming from where they thought they were - from bags, to shoes, to laundry pods

This trend signifies a broader shift in how Chinese manufacturers approach international marketing, and is possibly a sign as to how other countries might try and handle their new life in tariff town.

My daughter bought a knockoff brand bag from China via internet.
And she told me " is this really fake? Looks real to me"
So I told her " all luxury bags are made in China and they make more than requested and sell left overs via Internet. So they are actually real one. That's I learned from the international trading class at the college."

As an italian, I know about Gucci made in China since the 90s. I know a leather artisan who has been fired from these luxury brands in 2003. 95% of value added is just the brand.

Excuse me. In China what you say low wages isn't exactly what it is. China is not the US. Every produce and groceries is so cheap in China. USD500 wage a month in China is comparable to USD5000 per month in the US. With USD500 a month wages, we can own a 3 Rooms Apartment, we can own pets like dog, our fridges are always full, 42 inches Plasma TV, we can own cars, our children get the best education. We can even save enough to go on a vacation. Hope this hard truth will make you realise what low wages to you is to us it is enough and more. 😊

Anyone who is paying these prices for any "luxury" items should have their heads examined! No wonder people are living paycheck to paycheck and can't afford healthcare, retirement, ....

That is ridiculous to pay that much for a handbag. Especially during these times. That bag is not even that attractive. However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

That bag is not fake, that original bag is made in China not in Italy or France. 😅😅

It's not only Chinese companies claiming they can copy the items using the same high-quality materials — many of the factories are now coming forward, revealing that they have been the ones manufacturing these items for the brands for decades, and disclosing the real production costs. While this may not be a surprise to most insiders, it will certainly have a massive psychological effect on consumers when their friends point out that they’ve been overpaying all along.

The Chinese workers and factories are also like qualititavely superior.

We all know in the industry the markup on luxury items is on average 8. So cost of manufacturing is $100. Retail cost is $800. Why? Besides the brand. Better raw materials and workmanship. But if China sources in Italy. France. Germany. Then indeed the knock out will be 99% identical.

The US has out capitalismed itself. US manufacturers shifted overseas because it was all cheaper. Also because Chinese workers are far more highly skilled than Americans especially for high tech stuff. Also because the US had exhausted much of its natural resources, particularly metal ores and has to import them. Add that to higher labor costs and lower skilled workers and it is not economically feasible to manufacture in the US.

Now the truth are out. The oligarchs are trembling with fear. No more crazy margins 😂

It is easy to explain why.
China has the source to all the materials in the world.
China also has a huge skilled work force who can make these stuff.
China also has the MOST industrial robots in the world to make stuff.

Just proves the tariffs should be 1400% on China

Trump did not destroy luxury brands. China did out of panic for over production and supply overload. China shd only make the number of luxury goods ordered. Why did they produce more? For the black market?

🇨🇳 😂😅 The Chinese people are agile thinkers, creative and highly adaptable. Your Tik Tok campaign was a master stoke of genius. You spotlighted corporate gouging and created a factory outlet global market to cutout the middleman. Then you top it off with free 250 hour visas. 😂 Well Done
