Steve Lacy HATES His Tiktok Fans

Tiktok has ruined Steve Lacy's tour. A lot of the fans that are going to his shows aren't actually there for him and are there to see him perform Bad Habit and Dark Red like he is a robot. Tiktok has also ruined his performances of songs like Bad Habit because none of the fans know the second verse of the most popular song in America for 3 weeks in a row. In New Orleans, Steve went crazy and smashed a fan's camera that was thrown at him.

I went to the Atlanta show and he actually did talk to the crowd at the beginning and specifically ask them not to throw things at him. Overall I think he appreciated that crowd because people were singing every line of every song, and he sincerely thanked us at the end of the concert. I hate to see how downhill these other shows went.

Tiktok is Steve Lacy’s double-edged sword. Got his song to number 1, yet half his fans can’t even sing-along. Absolutely baffling.

it's a shame that such a great artist and performer like steve can have his show ruined by people buying tickets for artists they don't even listen to

I feel bad for the real fans who aren’t able to get tickets because the Tik tok people who knew one hook of one of his songs buy all the tickets. And I’m glad that Steve came out and said that he believes he did nothing wrong when he threw the phone. He’s not giving into them and he’s standing his ground.

steve said the philly concert we were at was the best one he performed at cuz everybody knew ALL the songs, we were respectful, and as a result he gave a great performance

I used to think people saying "This song was ruined by TikTok" was an exaggeration, but wow this is awful.

its already sad that they only know two songs but the saddest part is that they only knew the viral tiktok part of bad habit and also the fact that some people probably werent used to the normal version because they only know the sped up version.

I'm not even really into his music but it low-key pisses me off how badly tiktok fans fucked this one up. Especially how they singing the viral part with so much energy yet don't even know the other lyrics of the same song, let alone other songs

Like, I cannot imagine going to a show only knowing a single part of one song knowing someone else that actually deadass likes the artist as a whole could have that

Imagine going to a Steve Lacy concert for one song. That really hurts man. I would've loved to see him perform C U Girl and his entire discography in general man. TikTok degenerates have to stop man.

Steve has a right to be frustrated and dislike his “fans”, he is a human him being irritated at the fact that his shows are getting sold out by fools who don’t even know the artist and know more then one line of and throwing shit at him. I’m too broke to go to a concert rn but I’ve supported him since the internet.

HOW YOU BUY A WHOLE TICKET JUST TO NOT KNOW THE LYRICS!?!?!?!

We gotta bring music snobbery, gatekeeping and the word POSER back.

See this is why people like to “gatekeep” artists and music because it gets ruined the second it becomes viral.

If you’re going to a concert, actually listen to the album and understand the passion a musician puts into their art.

Edit: I just want to thank everyone in the replies for putting forth your opinions. They have given me a lot of perspective and I enjoyed reading them. And thanks for keeping it relatively civil!

I went to Steve’s show in Denver and lots of people were singing along to all his songs even his deep cuts. Some crowds are full of the tiktok fans who don’t know his music but lots of real fans are showing up and singing along!

I don't understand why tik tok fans pay resell if they don't know the songs

That is so dumb what is the point of going to a concert if you only know one song. And not even one song but just the hook like wtf

My boyfriend and I went to his concert in Detroit and it was one of my worst concert experiences just because of the fans, specifically the ones that were pushing to the front. We managed to get VIP during the original sale and got barricade. We were vibing with the people around us before the concert started and it was super chill! However, as soon as the opener came on, people were running up to get to the front, therefore most of us were getting pushed away from our spots and even getting pulled up against the barricade itself. For me, I was literally getting crushed because this group of Tiktok fans were pushing right behind me and it hurt really bad, Both the opener and Steve himself noticed this and called out in the crowd to stop. He’s a great performer and music, genuinely enjoyed the concert overall, but he’s also got some shit fans.

Steve Lacy really has progressed over the years, I remember listening to his songs on SoundCloud in 2015, after I discovered him from The Internet, alongside Matt Martians and Syd. I really wish I could attend his concerts but psshhh I live in Botswana and there's little to no chance of me ever seeing him live.

It's disheartening to see people calling him a "one hit wonder" and a "tiktok musician" when his discography is extensive. If only the Tiktoker bandwagons could educate themselves before buying a fucking ticket 😪

It would be like Radiohead playing a concert where the only lyrics the audience knew were, “I’m a creep, I’m a weirdo”

I imagine fans saying “alright he did bad habits let’s get outta here” lol
