I respect your test. You left out srixon and mizuno. Two of the best brands for this category.

Price em low and loft em strong and you'll win Rick's best iron.

You must compensate for different lofts. A little math can do this but it's totally unfair to award the same points for distance when there are different lofts. You can calculate what the others brands WOULD be if they were all the same loft. Or you can divide average distance and loft and get yard per degree or something like that. Or better, learn how to adjust lofts and bend them all to the same loft, overriding the manufacturer's gamesmanship.

I'm a 4.4 handicap golfer and currently swing the Takomo 301 CB's. I just love them. I got them with .5" shorter shafts and 1 degree flat and midsize grips. They're perfect. They just feel so right for me. This test was very fair and subjective. I wish you would include spin rates with those distance numbers.. along with descent angle.

Distance is the most stupid thing ever to have on there.

Are u ok Rick?? ... NOBODY gives points for distance with difference in loft.... GET CLUBS TO MATCH the loft ... amazing fail from someone supposed to "professional" in this stuff.... ur test stuff "back in the days"... now this is just crap for people with no golf brain at all.... total shame!

Really not to be a hater here, but the fact there was no Srixon ZX7, Mizuno 243, Callaway Apex CB, or Cobra King Tour just makes this an absolute joke. This video is missing some of the best performance in this category. Rick makes good content, but when it comes to reviewing clubs it’s just not it. I know it was said but looks sound and feel are all subjective. WE WANT TO SEE DATA. Which spins the most/least, which launches the lowest/highest, which creates the most ball speed with the same loft, and most importantly which is the most a consistent in doing those things. GO GET FIT, leave biases to the side, go with performance and what checks your boxes of feel of the best performers.

ZX7 was top 3 iron of the past few years according to the trophy shelf. A true classic.

thanks for the effort Rick but I must say i didn't agree with any of your opinions but I still enjoy watching your reviews, keep 'em coming!

Would have liked to see a different approach to distance rating (especially in players irons). I don’t care how far they carry…I do care that it’s a consistent carry and how much spin is generated for stopping/roll.

Carry distance makes no sense to me? Wouldn't it be what club hits the distance number the most consistently? Length is relevant if not consistent? Or am I wrong here

Had an iron fitting this year after having my fitted Mizuno MX1000's for 15 years and was a choice between the Wilson CB's and Titleist T150's. Both great sets but the Wilson's grouping was so much closer. Had the clubs now for 4 months and they are amazing

Hard to believe the T100’s came in last place. My 2021 T100S are similar in design with 2 degrees stronger lofts and they feel and look amazing. Performance is awesome too with Fully forged heads with a 70-90 grams of tungsten in the heel and toe for forgiveness. No need to change them until the grooves are worn down

Should have included some Mizuno and Srixon irons in the mix mate.

I’m currently an 11 GHIN. When I first got my T-100S set in 2020 in was around a 20 GHIN. I actually improved my swing/scores after moving away from “game improvement” irons to the ones rec’ed for much better golfers than I was. The guy who fitted me was actually quite apprehensive, but I knew what I wanted & was confident I could hit them. Which, obviously, I can now. I honestly think the mental side plays a big role too in the club-fitting. If you are confident you can hit a “low handicapper” iron & the feel/look good to you at address, man, go for it.

I absolutely LOVE my T100S set. If price was more of an issue & I were to replace them, I’d prob go w/either the Wilson or Takomo set. The Vice looks ugly to me. Burning reality, when I get my next set in 2-3 years, I’ll prob go the T-150 if they are still selling those.

I have a set of the VGI01s, love them, they feel great, the flight is amazing, my mishits still fly pretty good. Not surprised.

I got myself some taylormade p7mc's around August last year, I probably shouldn't of being new to golf (april 2024) but I my thinking was invest in irons that are on paper above my skill level to force myself to get better and it has.
Started off in April shooting around 105 per round to now shooting around 90. Personal best to date is 87 😊

I am on 2 seasons and my second set of wilson staff model cb's and I love the feel. That's the only reason I bought them after coming off a Mizuno set I couldn't relinquish for 20 years. Mizuno should be included in this test. Otherwise, it just isn't fair. Afterall, Mizuno is the leader in forged club feel. But Wilson is cheaper and just as good. Gonna purchase a set of Takomo's as well this spring and see where they take me. Thanks Rick. Keep up the good work.
