To some, he was the greatest Emperor Tamriel ever knew and the hero who saved the world. But to me, he was a friend.

It's amazing how well Martin handled the whole thing. Went from a nobody to helping save the world in a very short span of time. Yet if I recall, he was pretty calm through most of it.

I always thought Oblivion was really smart in the way it set up that the prophecised Hero of Ages was in fact your buddy and you were just the unsung guy/girl who did all the dirty work and fetch quests.

Personal head canon: Losing Martin was one (of many) steps for the Hero of Kvatch in becoming the next Prince of Madness.

"Who is this person you pledged your service to? Brother Martin?"
"He... He was my friend."

When I realized that Sean Bean was the voice actor I knew it was inevitable

I wonder if Sheogorath visits Akatosh every now and again to see how his dear friend Martin is.

I remember when Martin sacrificed himself. With a tear in my eye i knew things would never be the same. And before i walked away, only 3 words came to me, "Be seeing you."

The greatest of all Emperors, but he turned into a dragon so that hardly sporting. Oblivion you weren’t even the main character and it was beautiful

"The tragedy is not they have died, but that all the glorious potential of what they could have impacted was lost with them."
And so Mehrunes Dragon won in the end.

Oh Martin, I told you we should have lit the dragon fires first! It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission!

Martin, the prince who was raised in a priory, a priest in the temple of Akatosh, a heir of the empire of Tamriel, an Emperor who sacrificed his own life at the end without any hesitation. Yeah, he was friend, a good friend

As far as I am concerned Martin Septim was the best of the Septim emperors. He wasn't power hungry and had his people's best interests at heart. He also wasn't an idealistic fool. He was a realist. What a great emperor he would have been if not for Jaffre failing at every step of the way. He couldn't protect the amulet of kings costing so much time. He didn't even think to retrieve and protect the heir until we were beating down his door with the amulet of kings. Jaffre's incompetence cost the Empire more than anyone could ever imagine. Though I guess not every Blade spy master can be as competent as Caius. If only it had been Caius or someone like him leading the Blades in Oblivion things could have turned out so much different.

Intro: Skyrim
Main part: Oblivion
Conclusion: The HoK was a Dragonborn the whole time, and Martin's sacrifice was pointless the whole time

Man, my PC at the time rendered the final battle at like 30 frames a minute, but that sturdy beast saw it through to the end without a crash.

If we get to commune with Akatosh in the next game I hope he’s voiced by Sean Bean

I still remember the first time Martin asked me if I was ready to enter his portal to paradise

R.I.P. Martin. Thanks for being my unintentional and immortal companion who followed me everywhere because I refused to take you to cloud ruler temple for a huge portion of the game.
