This was the vid that sold me on a 58 and specifically that lighter blue one with the gold pick guard. Thanks again Anthony

Beautiful basses! I like both the relics and these NOS’s.

I honestly like both. I enjoy a good NOS that I can play a ton and watch it relic over the years. I also enjoy some of the more tastefully done relics as well. I have some of those, too. For me though, it really depends on the instrument and how well I connect with it. In addition to that, I have owned a few pre-cbs fenders all original and worn and I like those as well. That being said, what I don’t like is when anyone decides they want to throw shade at someone else for liking what they like.

Bought a heavy relic ‘58 because it plays and sounds incredible. Would have liked the option for an NOS but this one was just very special.

I really like the light journeyman treatment. I have that on my ‘60 CS Jazz bass. Just feels so natural and old without beating beaten up.

Love the way a relic neck feels... rest of the bass I'll relic myself :)

NOS is best, just tired of the relic nonsense

I love the look of a relic but I don’t think I could buy one personally!

You can hear some differences for sure. But none of them sound bad.

Only reason I wouldn’t get one of the Empire 58’s is the 9.5 radius. I’ve tried to like it, but I just don’t. I’m a 7.25 radius guy. And I can instantly tell the difference. Other than that, those Empire 58’s look and sound awesome.

Personally, I never understood the road worn look. I wouldn't purchase one unless it was road worn by a major rock star.

I refuse to talk to someone who relics guitars

The Fender Custom Shop has been offering Relics for 29 years. Anything that has lasted that long IS NOT a fad. Fender has been offering Mexican made Road Worn models for 17 years which is also far too long to be considered a fad.
Relic haters have been calling it a “fad” since the beginning, and those who have yet to realize how great Relic/Road Worn finishes are continue to call it a fad. Don’t sink to their level of ignorance by changing the definition of the word fad to mean “anything someone doesn’t like”.
