Einstein's God - The God of Spinoza

When questioned about God, it seems Einstein would say that he believed in the God of Spinoza. In this video (with text) I recite Spinoza's The Substance of God - as best I could find it - for your deliberation. You can download an MP3, PDF or Plain Text file here:
He describes a 'God' I recognise.

This is very inspiring. This is how I want to live my life with joy of so many topics. In terms of after death, there is no need to fear. If death is the end, we will become one with the presence and mind of God even though we wont be aware. We'll be in a sleep for a good night's rest. if there is an afterlife, wonderful, we can enjoy what is yet to come and communicate with our deceased ones, but not to worry of eternal burning or such. So spinoza's God is the most fulfilling in life and philosophically, we might exist as if God exists, but live as this life is all we have

Time is in a one way direction. You can’t rewind, pause, replay or fast forward the time. The future already exists. The connection of events is the same as the connection of ideas. There is only one past, one now, and one future. Everything that happens in the Universe is followed from prior events and causes. In so far human is part of nature, they do not have free will. Human is determined to be ignorant and react to emotions with stronger emotions. Fear is the mother of all emotions.

Holding God responsible and ourselves blameless assumes we are separate. If all consciousness is God incarnate then we all chose to be born and all bear responsibility for our lives, each other and the world.

This is so good I can’t stop watching, and I live less than 50 yards from the Spinoza house in The Hague.

Sounds like Spinoza made up a god that doesn’t hold him or anyone accountable for anything at all. How convenient

The fundamental principle of Spinoza's philosophy is the necessary and absolute infinity of God.. All of his thinking is God-centered. The proof of his principle of infinity is presented in the Ethics, Book I, in which He expressed his rational and intuitive beliefs through definitions and axioms. The reality of God is proven by the necessity for a First Cause, a self-caused Being. God is the only Substance which can possess the attribute of existence. There is no other being of the same kind as God; therefore nothing exists which can limit God. All particular things flow necessarily from the nature of God. All reality is in God. Everything that is, is God. Spinoza disagreed fundamentally with both Judaism and Christianity. He denied the personality of God essential to monotheistic religions. Spinoza objected to irrational belief in miracles and mysteries as a basis for faith in the Infinite God. Spinoza and Christianity though agree that love is the highest function of God and man. But Spinoza's love is intellectual and consisting in the rational comprehension of the necessary truth of the universe, and that is there's an eternal, infinite Substance expressing/manifesting itself in eternal, infinite attributes and modes. The Substance includes everything that exists. Everything that exists is a manifestation of this God-Substance that coincides with Nature itself and the whole of existence.
