Several studies in mice have shown that scientists can create false memories that can later influence their behavior. In one experiment, scientists implanted electrodes in mice brains, targeting "place cells" associated with location memory. By stimulating these cells during sleep, they induced false memories of specific places. Sophisticated #neuroscience tools like #optogenetics have made this possible.
