It's been a while since I uploaded an original ATLA song, but I'll be out with one soon! You can listen to the demos of my next song "Balance" on my Patreon! I'll also be doing an early release for my patrons as soon as I finish mixing and mastering!

I'm beyond excited to release "Balance", especially since I've been working on it since fall of 2020. It is over 7 minutes long featuring a full cast and a 50 person ensemble. Here are some collaborators you may recognize:

I can't help but feel that the line "you left us behind" is more directed at her mother rather than zuko

How is her voice SO GOOD for both Suki and Azula?? Like it obviously doesn't sound _exactly_ like their original voice actors, but her voice is such a great match for them in this hypothetical musical!

I love the line "You left us behind" at the end. The song is about catching Zuko and Iroh, but in a way this touches on her abandonment issues; it sounds like she is referring to her mother.

i'd love for azula slow descension to madness be portrayed in all her songs. Azula is a genius, she calculates everything, always planning and decieving. So at first, i see her songs being slow and calculating like a snake and when it finally has its prey where she wants it thats when the beat changes. From the very start i think her obsession with gaining her dad's approval, repulsion for weakness, and insecurities about love would be sprinkled in. When ozai leaves her in the fire nation, think her song would be called "alone", cuz well everyone has left, her mom, zuko, iroh, her dad, mai and tylee and she doesn't really care anymore for the rest and she's finally got what she thought she wanted, being fire lord but no one is there at her coronation, leaving her with only her thoughts. in her last song, for the agni kai all her thoughts are jumbled her schizopherenia starting, so many layers and overlapping lines(iroh saying she's dangerous, ursa:monster, what is wrong with that child, ozai manipulating her, mai: i love zuko more) and really loud instrumental. Similar to for the first time in forever reprise with elsa being azula and anna being zuko trying to talk some sense into her or non-stop from hamilton. the last lines being her shouting monster, traitor, weak, useless over and over again at zuko but actually talking about herself and ursa saying "i love you, azula i do". ozai teaching her that fear=respect=love, having to be useful to get acknowledgment, ty lee's betrayal, the gaang letting her fall while saving zuko, "you can't treat me like zuko" showing her fear of her father, being neglected and even hated by others so the only perosn left to turn to is ozai are important aspects of her character.

I love the potential double meaning the line "you left us behind" can mean
The first meaning is obvious, as it can refer to Zuko. As Azula mission from the start was to capture him and iroh. She can be talking about how him being banished to look for the avatar, he left behind her and the fire nation.Maybe even foreshadowing him WILLINGLY choosing to leave on Book 3.
But it can also refer to Aang. As once Azula first encounters aang, she sort of drops her mission for Zuko and iroh. And starts hunting him. The line "you left us behind" can be read as Aang leaving with the world needed him most. He ran away, leaving behind his responsiblity as the avatar

this is amazing also the chorus "I play nice, just to pay the price, I wont ask twice" reminds me of a section in "going through the motions" in buffy the vampire slayer which is also amazing when you look at the similarities between the characters stories.

Further proof the villains get the best songs, this is easily my favourite song from the musical so far!
