I M P O R T A N T ⚠️
Dough should be elastic, this ensures the conchas are moist and soft

TIP! TEST YOUR YEAST!!!!!!!!!! IF DOUGH DONT RISE, ITS MORE LIKLY BECAUSE YOUR YEAST IS NO GOOD OR YOUR INGREDIENTS ARE NOT ROOM TEMPERATURE

REMEMBER SIFT THE FLOUR, UNSFITED FLOUR IS HEAVIER THAN SIFTED SO IF YOU WEIGHT YOUR FLOUR STRAIGHT FROM THE PACKAGE, IT WILL BE MORE AND THAT WILL JUST AFFECT THE LIQUID NEEDED

🛑 DO NOT ADD ANY MORE FLOUR , THIS WILL MAKE THE BREAD DRY

Ingredients: makes 8-12 conchas depending on how mini you want them
4 cups (550g) SIFTED all purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 cinnamon stick or 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp instant yeast
1/4 tsp salt
3 eggs at room temperature
1 tbsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup warm milk
6 tbsp (85g) butter at room temperature
Topping
1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 cup powder sugar
1 cup butter flavor shortening or butter
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp coco powder
1 tbsp strawberry nesquik
Food coloring (optional)
1 serving of love 💕

For those who do better with reading..
She used 4cups of sifted flour, sift 1/2 cup of sugar, 1 cinnamon stick, 1/4 tsp of salt, 6 tbsp of butter. Then began to mix until butter combines with flour. Then add 1 tbsp of instant yeast and 1 tbsp of vanilla extract, 3 eggs, and 3/4 cups of warm milk(310 degrees) slowly pour that milk while scraping the sides of the bowl. After done pouring the milk let it keep mixing for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes it should be done u will know if it is cause it should be stretchy. Get a bowl, plastic wrap, and a small kitchen towel. Butter the bowl and ur hands. When picking up ur dough make sure to use the butter on ur hands to cover the dough and shape into a ball. Place ball of dough in bowl Cover the top of the ball in plastic wrap, then put ur kitchen towel over it and let set for 2 hours or until it doubles in size in a warm place. If u keep ur house cold u can preheat ur oven to 100 degrees for 1 minute, after 1 minute is over place something like a wood cutting board in the oven and put ur bowl on that. While u wait on that u can start on ur topping. Sift 1 cup and 1/2 of flour into a bowel along with 1cup and 1/2 of sugar and 1 cup of butter flavored shortening or u can just use butter. Then add 1 tbsp of vanilla extract and mix mix mix until ur mixture starts to feel like wet sand, once u have that consistency knead until u have a nice smooth paste and put that into the fridge. You can stop there if u want all vanilla for the toppings or u can go to 3:33–5:35. To figure out how to make strawberry or chocolate flavored toppings. Once ur dough is done rising take a pan and cover that with butter the butter will be used as glue to keep the parchment paper to stay down. Then take ur dough out of the bowl and divide dough into 8 even pieces. Shape ur pieces into balls along with spreading a thin layer of butter on top and place on pan while also placing kitchen towel over them. then take ur toppings out of the fridge from earlier and divide each of the 3 balls into 2 and use a tortilla press to thin them out (if u don’t have a tortilla press u can use a rolling pin) the place the toppings over ur dough and use a knife to lightly make a shell design. Let ur concha’s rest for 30-45 minutes so they can double in size again then set ur oven to 350, then place a glass bowl/pan or whatever with water in it at the bottom of the oven so ur concha’s stay moist and don’t break. Then let ur concha’s bake for 18-20minutes, when done let them set for 10 minutes. AND THEN UR DONE!!!!🎉🎉🎉 Hope this helped cause it took forever. My keyboard is now delayed. ANYWAYS ENJOY UR CONCHAS🩷🩷

I made them today to share with my community, and they loved it. I am from a pretty remote area so finding mexican panaderias within 100 mile radius is impossible. Am really grateful for this channel!!!

These are magical!!! Made them yesterday and my family is asking to have them again on Xmas morning. She is spot on about eating them warm - either straight from the oven or warmed in the toaster oven.

These are, literally, 1000x better than anything I’ve had from a Mexican bakery.

A few thoughts…

- I made the dough into 12 pieces and they are still pretty large.

- her recipes always make a LOT of food - after forming the dough, I divided everything and froze half. An hour on the counter after removing from the oven before forming the shells should work.

- I used butter for the fat in my shell. I needed to add a few more tablespoons of flour and powdered sugar to get the dough stiff enough.

- I don’t have a “concha cutter” so I just used the back of a knife too to make some lines in the shell before the final rise. :)

Anyway, these are great, fairly easy, and you should try them!!!

Thanks! ❤❤❤ My grandfather worked in a panaderia and had hand written recipes, but I could never figure out how to convert them into smaller batches. I’ve always wanted to learn how to make pan dulce. Thank you for providing such awesome content.

DO NOT OVER HEAT YOUR MILK…you will have flat bread with no rise. Use a food thermometer to check it doesn’t go over 115 degrees!!

Hi Claudia, this is my second time making your recipe and my family loves them. I have used a couple other recipes but yours is by far my favorite. Everything is soft moist and they do not dry out by the next day. I have shared your recipe with family and friends ❤

I HIGHLY recommend using Mexican vanilla, it is absolutely the best flavor.

I made these and they were very delicious! I made vanilla and chocolate. I cut the dough into 10 pieces and they still ended up being huge! Definitely a labor of love with no stand mixer! Twenty minutes of kneading by hand to get the dough to the proper consistency. Well worth all of the work. Thank you for your recipe ❤

These are so good. Genius idea using the Nesquick for the strawberry flavoring. I've made them a few times now and my family loves them. Thanks Claudia!
