Every time Opal is on screen (Steven Universe)

I love how Opal is basically the perfect fusion, pearls uptight personality and amethyst's laid-back personality cancel each other out.

For those who dont know, theres a guidebook to Gems and it describes Opal as "Achieving a balance neither Pearl not Amethyst could achieve on their own. However balance takes focus and the slightest mistake causes Opal to fall apart"

Being Opal is essentially a balancing act.

I love how Anethyst and Pearl started off havinn the hardest time fusing, but as the show progressed, they grew to the point where they could do it in the blink of an eye

Something cool I just noticed is that in Opal’s first appearance, we don’t hear Amethyst or Pearl’s signature instruments while she’s punching through the bird. It’s only when she’s revealed that we hear the familiar drums and piano, subtly telling us that we already know exactly who Opal is

I feel sooo sorry for opal. In the original serie (excluding the movie, in which she actually just sings) i think she's the fusion who ever talked less. She only makes 4 appereances in SU and talks only in her debut episode, saying less than 15 words... she deserves justice, she's so pretty and powerful...

the reason she doesn't talk much is because they coudn't afford her voice actor much, like sugilite, she talks less than other fusions cause they couldn't afford Nicki to be there a lot

It makes sense Opal doesn't show up much considering how different Amethyst and Pearl are and them both acknowledging they only fuse when it's necessary. Still she's my favorite fusion, the design is awesome and I love her weapon. 🏹

She says so little because shes using every ounce of concentration to maintain her form! Any time she does any action that isn't related to the reason pearl and amethyst fused, it increases the risk of that concentration breaking and the fusion coming apart. Thats my headcanon!

Something that I really appreciate about Opal is that we get to see her design change after each reformation. Pretty sweet

Opal should’ve received more screentime. Especially since this was our ACTUAL introduction to the concept of fusion. It would’ve been so cool to see it from Opal’s perspective and how well Pearl and Amethyst can really work together despite their opposite personalities. There was so much potential there but it was lost unfortunately :(.

something I realized was how overtime Pearl and amethyst have less trouble fusing, in the later seasons all they had to do was touch. I really like their relationship now
