So what were the tablets that the 10 commandments according to Rabbinical traditions, found in the Talmud and Mishnah, teach that the tablets were made of sapphire. As a geological hobbyists, where did Moses go and which mountain (or hill, jabel) had sapphire large enough to write the 10 commandment on. It was probably blue Safire (Lapis lazuli) but are there anyplace that Moses would have gone that had large enough pieces that could accommodate the script?
