Yellow Rock Hike / Grand Staircase Escalante / Cottonwood Canyon Road ~ UT

Yellow Rock is a surprisingly beautiful dome of sandstone situated along the Cockscomb, up Cottonwood Canyon Road, in Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, Utah.
During the Covid-19 Pandemic in the spring of 2020, I found myself having to (kind of) hide from the law. Most counties in Utah had shut-down and people were told to stay home. Folks were getting arrested near Moab for camping on BLM lands. It was still too cold for me to return to my State and town of residence, so I had to figure out where I could stay without getting in trouble with the law. Federal lands have different laws than State and their own law enforcement rules. The chance that an LE would come and arrest me for camping peacefully in Grand Staircase was pretty slim-to-none, so I decided to camp there.
This meant that in order to still be active, I had to find places to hike in GS, however, nearly all the popular trails had been closed completely, so I had to find lesser-known places to hike. I've done Yellow Rock before, and it was an easy choice. I hope you'll join me on this hike. Scroll down for the trailhead coordinates.

Sure is beautiful there! The yellow rock looks like it could have been ocean floor that was heaved up millions of years ago. Thanks, Roxy ;-) Remain safe and healthy... PeAcE!

Roxy, you visit and generously share a vast array of compelling and delightful and memorable landforms and landscapes. Many thanks for doing so. And the stills galleries you post along with your videos take my breath away, time and again. Many thanks as well for that thoughtful gesture. The idea of having a Pole along to help with your descent is a good one. But, wouldn't a German, or Austrian, or Czech, or Ukrainian, be equally helpful? ;^)

OMG, I'm still trying to catch my breath! I fear I would have been "skiing" down! Many of the stills seemed to be painted with colors of Van Gogh. The colors are so warm.
