Hahahaha i found out im allergic to a particular anesthesia the hard way. I stopped breathing. When i woke up in ICU, one of the nurses jokingly said - stop trying to die on us, youre making too much paperwork! 😂😂😂

my dad has always taught me a phrase for instances like this. “what do you do when it’s time to panic?”
“don’t panic!”
has honestly saved my life before.

Good thing he is already in the hospital!

My friend is the exact opposite. She's seriously allergic to tree nuts and she's always saying, "Don't worry, if I eat them, you'll have an hour until I die."

This is why even if you’re NOT a doctor you need basic medical knowledge 💀✋🏼

- What if I stopped breathing?
- If you also stopped yelling nonsense I see it as an absolute win

Lol I had to explain this to someone. As a CT tech you come across people who don’t know that IV transfer fluids, and medicine through venous, and Arterial phases.

I know this is acted out by one person, but he deserves an oscar. I was so invested that when the "patient" grabbed the syringe, I literally yelled "What?? No!!" to my phone.😅

I wish my ER would have treated me this fast. I was already covered in hives and swelling when I got there and they left me in the waiting room for over an hour. By the time they took me back, the IV had to be placed ultrasound because I was so swollen. I could barely hear because my ear cannals were swollen almost shut. My blood pressure was so low I couldn't even sit up without passing out and I was in tachicardia. About the only thing I remember after that is this feeling that "this must be what dying feels like"

Worth noting that severe allergic reactions can make you delirious. I had an anaphylactic reaction where I started crying because I felt like a failure for having an anaphylactic reaction... Then I tried to get up and get some water right in the middle of it, and the nurse tackled me.

I had an allergic reaction recently and I went to the ER (where I work) and I was freaking out bc I was having a hard time breathing and I kept asking the nurse if I was going to die and she looked at me and said "Carson, you know how people say crazy things when they're not getting enough oxygen? They push the non-rebreather away and stuff?" and I nodded and she said "You're doing that right now." And we both had a laugh.

I've jabbed myself in some weird places using my epipen during anaphylaxis but I have to say never the back of my neck! That's a new one!

Last time I was taken to the emergency room having an allergic reaction my tongue was so swollen I couldn't talk. As it was the last thing I remember was them trying to start a breathing tube while they were stabbing me in the hand to start an IV. I'm so severely allergic to bees that even two epipens is just enough to keep me going till I can get on life support at the hospital.
