The difference between activism and slacktivism is the will (or lack thereof) to get going when the going gets tough.
A slacktivist may be one who does only the bare mininum for a cause, and wants to harvest the akklaim after the cause gains momentum.
A slacktivist always finds excuses to not be there when it counts.

For instance the slacktivist will say go vote for X. But when the voting day comes around, a slacktivist will find excuses for why they couldn't vote that day or why voting doesn't matter anyway.
A slacktivist may also encourage people to take to the streets, and will be nowhere in sight themselves, when the event is actually taking place.
A slacktivist only cares about likes and/or ad revenue.
