Peak Modern Supercars? MANUAL Ferrari F430 v Lamborghini Gallardo | Supercar Driver

We love the noughties, and especially the cars that defined the era, like the Ferrari F430 and Lamborghini Gallardo. These two legendary supercars represent a pivotal moment when analogue driving thrills met emerging technology, making them some of the last truly raw supercars.

In this film, we reunite these fierce rivals 20 years on to see how they hold up in today’s high-tech supercar world. Join us for an epic comparison of power, performance, and passion from the golden age of analogue supercars.

Jonty and Adam don’t always agree on things, but one thing we do seem to be in tune on is that as supercars have become more modern, they have become less exciting in their quest for perfection.

But here’s a question for you. If back I the day, 50% of people had specced a MANUAL in these cars, would we have seen a manual option in their successors, the 458 and the Huracan?

We’d love to know your thoughts on this episode in the comments!

OUR QUESTION TO YOU…

I’m fortunate to own a low miles, silver, manual f430 with rare carbon bucket seats. I put it in storage when they discovered I had a Glioblastoma brain tumour and have not been allowed to it drive for 12 months. Fingers crossed I survive so I can drive it once again.

Agreed! The 2000’s gave us the best combination to date of beautiful design, lightweight construction, high power, simplicity, sound, and quality engineering

The Gallardo’s styling has aged incredibly well. It’s so much more graceful than more recent models!

An era that will be looked on fondly… miss when these were the new cars

I bought a manual V10 R8 spyder last month for the same reasons as the ones you’ve highlighted. It’s my first super(ish)car! The clunk click of the gearbox, while you heel toe is just the best. Especially when the roof is down and the heaters are blowing in this cold Yorkshire weather!

Great video guys (as always)

Great Video - Owned my F430 manual 8 years and can't see myself ever selling it!

The camera man needs a raise! Every shot blew every other car channel out of the water. Coming from someone that watches the likes of Throttle House and the Hagerty version of Jason Camisa... Instant subscribe!

What a pair of classic, analogue supercars! Also great to see Adam presenting in the F430.

I was driving towards Bala when they were filming this, stopped at the layby where they were parked and being interested had a chat, very friendly and enthusiastic. Didn't know about the channel but the guy driving the yellow Lambo very informative and I've been waiting for this film to surface. Was amazed at the quality of production, well done 👍

Well done chaps, this episode did not disappoint. We are lucky to have a manual 430 and a manual Murcielago in our fleet, both amazing, much loved cars. Couldn’t agree more with your comments and great to see Adam putting in a shift on the channel. 👋😍

Thanks for this. I've been having a bit of a knock-down-drag-out with our '04 manual Gallardo, chasing some hesitation and funky idle behavior. Some amazing footage in this one to remind me that there's light...and V10 noises at the other end of the hours in the garage. Having said that, while they are starting to have "old car problems" they're also surprisingly simple to work on, which shouldn't be overlooked when rating this era of car.

Two great analogue supercars with manual gearboxes. The noughties is my favourite decade for cars with cars like the Gallardo, 430, 996/997 GT3's, E46 M3 CSL and analogue hypercars like the Pagani Zonda, Carerra GT & Ford GT. Most of the modern stuff with all the tech and flappy paddles just bores me.

I own a factory manual F430 Spider and a 997.1 GT3 RS so I completely agree with everything said!

I love both of them. Each have unique characteristics. It’s like choosing a favorite child, impossible. While my F430 is F1, the experience is extremely exciting. But the manual Gallardo, that’s pure bliss. The V10 howl is intoxicating.

Wow, that thumbnail! I grew up seeing those cars on the streets but never considered how similar the designs were.
