This world geography lesson begins the examination of the human geography of South Asia by surveying several of the basic contributors to South Asian Culture. Discussed is the Harappan Civilization of the Indus River Valley, the impact that the Aryans had upon the region's culture, the development of the Dharmic Religions of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sikhism, the influence of Islam and the Mughal Empire, the role that European colonization had on the sub-continent, the Indian independence movement, the Great Partition, and the tension that exists in Kashmir and Punjab.

I think it would be useful to mention the variety of different Christian churches within India. I’m from the south of India where most Christians in India reside. The Mar Thoma Church down in Kerala and parts of Tamil Nadu, believe that St Thomas came to India to spread Christianity, rather than the Europeans.

Thanks for the brief explanation though
-Love from Kerala

Really good video Sir, only one thing: The Vedas are native to India, there was no aryan invasion, aryan is a Sanskrit term and not a race nor religion nor culture. Aryan theory was invented by the european colonizers to spread racism and separatism within india and to atribuite to themselves all the discoveries that the indians did. If I may say so, it was from India that all known cientific knowledge arrived to Europe (stolen or learned from india). There are also other minor misconceptions in the video but it is really well informed, it is normal that people still believe in the Aryan theory but is a mythdebunked by genetic studies(saying that 95% of non-african males from all over the world come from india) and historical documentation.
I like the channel!

Hi Rueschhoff, I Have a few issues with your video and I hope you don't take them personally. South Asia is a name of a region just like central Asia, south east Asia and east Asia. They do not in themselves have any identity. Hence there is nothing called south Asian culture. You have a bunch of cultures in south Asia which includes Indian culture which is the one you are referring to in this video. South Asia cannot be used interchangeably with the Indian subcontinent as it also includes Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives and a bunch of other tiny islands non of which are part of the Indian subcontinent. While watching your video I could not help but not notice that you had reserved mentions of India/subcontinent for only those thing that are negative like the caste system, colonization and conquest. Whereas when it comes to things like Buddhism which is a Indian religion and philosophical system highly respected around the world, especially in the west, you mention it as a religion that originated in south Asia in what I can only describe as an attempt by you to separate him from his Indian roots. Yes, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism are called dharmic religions but they are more commonly called Indian religions, again trying to avoid mentioning India. They are called Indian religions not so much because they originated in the Indian subcontinent but because they are a product of Indian culture. It is INDIA, not south Asia that is the civilization. India along with China are the only two major ancient civilizations to have survived to the present day. Not only is Calling India, south Asia wrong, it also strips India of it's cultural/civilizational identity, unless of course that was your intention in the first place.

Sir presently called south Asia is in fact indian subcontinent.
Pakistan prefers to call it south Asia as they wish to erase their
Indian/hindu ancestory.

Afghanistan is NOT in South Asia. It's in Central Asian and lacks everything that makes up South Asian people, culture and identify. Please refrain from using wrong maps which include Afghanistan as part of South Asia.

South Asia = Indian Subcontinent!
