Welcome to Day Two of this 10-part series on using models and manipulatives in order to problem solve in the classroom. Today we are continuing the conversation with fractions, but looking at a more complex problem than yesterday. This is the type of problem that overwhelms a lot of students, but I love how fraction pieces and bar models can be used to make it so simple to solve without relying on procedures and algorithms.
