Another peak into an average workday as a hospital-based Speech Pathologist. Spent the day evaluating patients to eat safely! I had an MBSS (Modified Barium Swallow Study) which is a moving X-ray swallow study that allows us to objectively measure someone's swallow.

Hi Kelly!! Please keep posting this content because it contains valuable information. I’m currently in the process of finishing my bachelor’s in speech and communication and I want to continue to get my master’s and these videos are definitely helping me have a better understanding on which route I want to take! You’re an amazing SLP!😊

Thanks for your videos, they are v helpful. What percentage of my week would I expect to be doing client facing activities versus report writing tasks as a speech path? Thanks in advance for your reply, it's so hard to find specific information like this online.

I hope not all SLPs are as outgoing and bubbly as you are, that would be a scary profession for an extreme introvert like myself :')

Do you always use that much barium during the MBSS? No critique, I just think my radiologists would be very upset if I always used that much. They trust me when I say we need it for assessing this specific patient but if I let that become the standard volume, we would have some serious talk.

Is it difficult to get a medical SLP job straight out of grad school?
