Tesla service centers can order parts for you. They have some parts in house as this one was and they’ll grab them for you to do your own repair.

String trick was a life saver. Using this video I replaced my main actuator. The part is now $106 from Tesla in late 2023.

So how do you even get the frunk open if the actuator fails?

Excellent repair! A few years ago someone posted a video of Tesla mobile service accessing the trunk actuator cable by loosening one of the fender liners near the headlight. I can’t remember which fender liner side was accessed but it only took a few minutes for them to open the frunk that wouldn’t open otherwise.

Any video on how to get the drunk open if you never got to put the string in before it failed? Like removing the bumper thing you mentioned?

the fact that nobody is pointing out how laughable this 'fix' is... i drive a '91 Ford, and have never once had to fix anything as ridiculous as this. you should be writing poison letters, not fixing a brand new car yourself.
