Which prequel movie was your favorite?

I was in a group of first gen fans watching phantom menace and I was the only one of 5 who appreciated the film. The others talked about how different it was but I tried to concentrate on the plot elements and how they tied together what came in the OT. I expect how that very much was the thing.

The politics in star wars MAKE IT BETTER. Even as a 13 year old episode 1 was far more interesting than the story of the good guys save the day that was the OG Trilogy. Episode 1 got me into Star Wars because the world was so interesting. It didn't feel like there are only like 10 people in the whole galaxy with simple goals and dreams. Oh wow a smuggler, gee how one note...

THANK YOU!!! I totally agree. It's about time the popular hate for these films be set aside.

The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones absolutely are underrated films. Revenge of the Sith, on the other hand, gets plenty of love, and is actually one of my favorite Star Wars movies alongside Episode I. Phantom Menace is slow in pace, and more about politics than character drama, though the latter still exists in the movie. RotS is much quicker in overall pacing, and is in contention for the greatest Star Wars film ever made. Episode II has all of those memes to its name, and the badass Jedi duels with Count Dooku.

The first audiences who watched the Star Wars prequels experienced them with years between each release—three years apart—giving them plenty of time to build nostalgia for the originals and scrutinize every detail of the new films. This long gap allowed criticism to grow, with each installment facing heightened expectations and intense nitpicking. In contrast, newer generations can binge-watch the entire trilogy back-to-back, experiencing the full story as a cohesive narrative rather than through fragmented releases. Without the long wait between films, they can appreciate the overarching themes and character arcs without years of discourse picking apart every flaw.

The old star wars fans had a narrow view about what they thought star wars was the same narrow view that Jj Abrams had cringe fans wanted to tell George Lucas how Star wars should be prequel haters always talked about what they expected the prequels to be meaning they got angry their fantasies and headcanon weren't not real they didn't like like conce0pts that added to the lore because they wanted star wars to be a generic space sci-fi action movies instead of the combination of fantasy and sci, -fi and ancient mythology that it actually is

Dooku should have had more attention. One of the only things Disney did good with was that Tales of the Jedi episodes with him where we see his actual fall in a way Legends failed to display.

I've always loved the prequels. Maybe that's because these were the first Star Wars movies that I saw, but I feel the disdain for them is unfair. Yes, the line delivery (and their contents) are often outright silly, and the acting can be very stiff, but it's the story that makes these movies great. The originals are about vanquishing evil, and the prequels are about how evil came to be. I think it's brilliant.

Yes. And the most I dislike is whenever people specially sequel defenders just go over the prequels and shove them in the same bad category. Or that in time the kids will grow up to realize the true beauty of the sequel trilogy which is very simplistic to assume.

I wouldn't call the Prequels "underrated" because despite the Prequels being hated by many they were also loved by many. There were many fans who loved the epic galactic wars and fast-paced lightsaber duels between the Jedi and the Sith in the Prequels. people loved the epic story about what the former democratic Republic was like before it became the authoritarian Empire, that Darth Vader was a heroic warrior before becoming a ruthless warlord, two superpowers tricked into fighting by a dictator in the shadows, the war between the biologically built clone soldiers of the Galactic Republic and the mechanically built droid soldiers of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the story of the galactic warrior monks the Jedi when they were in their prime, the expanded stories and lore to the background of the characters especially Anakin Skywalker.

Phantom menace is 10x more movie than New Hope.

Compared to the sequels they're actually really good. The storytelling and timeless themes are far superior to most of what we get from Disney now. And Hayden's acting foibles are actually kinda endearing.

I actually loved the midichlorians, since i have a scientific background and was always intrested in.

Soft magic systems like the force in the OT doesn't work for SciFi, at least not for a franchise.

hey now i liked the prequels but ever I can tell you are just telling out of your a55 here. The criticism was justified.

True. They are underrated
They are like cracked, unpolished gems.

Still, I would fix a couple things.
Get rid of Jar Jar.
Keep the politics.
Have someone attack Padme on Naboo so Anakin can show off his skills. Make Anakin less whiny and more like Han in the original. Less of a whiny prick and more of a charming and cocky prick, if you know what I mean. We understand why Anakin loves Padme (Natalie Portman? 🥰) we never understood WHY Padme “truly deeply” loves Anakin. Is it his heroism 10 years earlier on Naboo?

The dialogue 🤪

Even Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher complained about George’s dialogue 😂

George is fantastic at storytelling, cinematography, editing, pacing- but dialogue.. he needed an editor

The prequels were great skeleton of an idea, but George Lucas needed somebody to help him really touch up his script. I don't care how nostalgic people are for these movies. The dialogue is laughably bad.
