I really enjoyed Van Jone's lecture...it makes me hope for change, on what I think is a, liberal perspective (i.e. within the current structures). And I'm not discounting how this adds to revolutionary change, because movements need this. More educated young black folk with wealth can not only recreate our lived experiences, but also give us new and dynamic ways of fighting oppression. But, I'm concerned! This must be understood as only a small change for how we'll fight the catastrophic effect of climate change, corporate greed, global imperialism, anti-black racism from slavery to colonization to neo-colonization, and white supremacy and how it affects ppl of colour, esp Indigenous folks; or else we forget the greater appeal to justice. So YES! Lets implement this, while also keeping an eye on the greater problem.
