I've probably heard 100 versions of this song but nobody sings it like Paddy. Timeless.

Your talking about a MACHINE of a man when it came to singing. No matter what it was, sad ballad or fast craic song the man was a genius at what he was doing. But just listen to the effortless ease and diction that he sang with and that should make you appreciate what a phenomenal master of his craft he was. Just brilliant 👏

I always liked this song but then I got to spend a month in Ireland a few years back. I was in the north of Ireland. I took the bus from Dublin to Letterkenney and then back again a month later. This song rings even truer to me now. It is still a rocky road to and from Dublin.

Nailed it, this is the top version, from this Dublin man's post of view, love to hear a Galway version if that's where the lad is from. Paddy Reilly, 🔥 Have to learn it back to front to be me new party piece, I learnt Dublin in the rare auld times back to front but it's hard to sing it the whole way through without tears coming down my eyes., I live in NYC now, over half my life, you can take the lad out of Dublin but you'll never take Dublin out of the lad!
