Norris defends his 'unsportsmanlike' conduct in Canada

Lando Norris was given a 5 second time penalty for 'unsportsmanlike conduct' at the 2023 F1 Canadian Grand Prix, which moved him out of the top 10 and missing out on points for McLaren. To add a little more to the story, he said he was approximately 4 seconds behind the delta, which he says is normal for everyone who is slowing and accelerating to keep temp in their tires. He wasn't stacking the cars up behind him to make a double box easier, he was managing his tires. What he said was he was at full throttle (keeping temp in tires) when he was told to box (meaning once he knew he was pitting, there was no way he could even be accused of stacking cars behind him)

I think the data will show otherwise. There's no way he was going flat out up until he was told to box. But i think the penalty was very harsh and it needs to be discussed and made much clearer through video and data about what he actually did wrong.

If he created a far enough gap between the car in front and himself (10 car lengths) while hampering the people behind him under safety car conditions then its not a strange penalty at all. Its in the rule book, it should be penalised.

They gave a stupid penalty to Norris while the 2 "unsafe release's" in the pitlane by Hamilton and Norris where not penalized...
The FIA wanted to give Norris a penalty but could not do that for the "unsafe release" because than they had to give Hamilton a penalty two so they gave Norris the penalty for "unsportsman like conduct" and did not have to give Hamilton the penalty for the "unsafe release"...
