One of the most overlooked accessories in gaming is mousepads.

Over the years, they haven’t only gotten larger, but companies have started making them with new materials. And as esports have become more popular, players have discovered that certain pads actually suit their playstyles, or even their games, better than others.

So, how did mousepads come to be? And how do they differ? It feels as though there are now hundreds of options out there for us gamers, so how do you know which pad suits you? Well, let’s find out.

So glad Dimitris been making episodes on peripherals!

I think it's funny how it was strategical shooters like CS that are lots about micro adjustments of aim that cultivated big mouse pads, instead of arena shooters like Quake where you constantly have to do 180s

Dimitri never mentioned the foam base of Artisan mousepads.... press into it for much more control, some more, or a bit more (xsoft, soft, mid foam as ratings for lower to higher density).

Loving these peripheral videos. Chair video next? Topics like Steelcase, Herman Miller chairs vs cheap chairs, gaming chairs vs office chairs, etc.

Would be interesting IMO

I tried the Glorious Air hardpad and thought it was too fast. I think Cordura pads strike a balance between speed of hard pads and the control of cloth pads.

Peripheral and in game setting videos are always so interesting and fun to watch/listen to.

A massive issue that affects a large population of Asia based players is humidity, and the right waterproof mouse pad can have a huge positive impact on consistency.

Look into cordura mousepads

Thanks for the memories of using a Ball Mouse. The worse was having to clean them, you would find many years of crumbs stuck inside.

This video is awesome! I was thinking no way has someone done a video detailed about mouse pads like this but dang!

Haven't seen the vid, just wanna point out that even the "super glide" or other names for the mouse pads and the bottom pieces of the mouse are relative to how much pressure you apply to the mouse.

Changing to "toggle" on the aim button or even changing the keybind of shooting to the keyboard will make your mouse more "light" while aiming because you are not applying extra down force

LTT had a very good video on how they tested and decided on their design for mousepad. Its a very good worthwhile watch as an addition to this one.

Love the Cracked series. Can you make one for fighting game controllers? Maybe be diverse in more games than FPS please?

Did a plastic hardpad for a while, nice but in the end not enough control. Tried a cloth one after, good but ugh, to sluggish for me. Now I have an in-between: Glorious Elements Ice. I like it very much. In the end it's like Dimitri said though, all personal and you'll get good results with whatever works nice for you (as long as you don't go into the extremes).

Ah yes I miss the oddly satisfying feel of taking out the mouse ball and cleaning out the gunk that has accumulated on the wheels.

I just picked up a pulsar es2 today and it’s actually so nice, not even as much with the actual speed of the mouse skates on the pad (I have a viper v2 pro with superglides) the main thing is the speed of my actual hand on it, the fact that it’s so smooth and consistent I love it so far

I found that one of the best pads I've ever used isn't an artisan pad, but actually the X-raypad aqua control series. The plus is mostly on the control side with a bit of speed, whereas the control II is more in between control and speed, but still towards control. Just note that if you do get the plus series, the rubber base wears of quickly over time.

got the artisan hayate otsu... silk smooth, sticks to the table, great glide with good control... not going away from this
