What are the tentacles found on the Dreadnaught? We’ve explored this space for years, but only recently have these begun to pop up and the reason why could be quite strange. Today we discuss the story of the Dreadnaughts transformation and speculate on what these tentacles are, or what they belong to.

Egregore is seen in the Pale Heart in the cysts in the campaign too. It's clear to me it's part of the witness' corrupting power.

Some untapped darkness powers include..

- Nightmare essence
- Egregore
- Taken
- Witness/Resonance

Not tentacles. BLOOD VESSELS.

The echo is breathing life into the husk of Akka.

Heresy is about the hive shaking their logic. Stripping away their worms. The concept art is really beautiful with this in mind.

In Revenant, we learned that the Echoes can "reverse the polarity" of light and dark. We know that the Leviathan were once blessed by the Traveler. We also know they're related to the Worms, although we don't really know more than that.

What if the presence of the Echo is somehow causing the corpse of Akka to "shed" the darkness?

If the echo fused with the dreadnaught, it could potentially turn Oryx into a new type of worm. Probably our worm, which would be interesting

Love the dreadnaught lore.

The only thing i have issue with for Heresy, is dealing with the tormentor from the initial location landing. Can be a real pain in the arse when soloing and having to do it as nightmare or whatever the difficulty is auto set to. I have no real issue with the rest but just the major tormentors.

The “darkness” in artwork and cutscenes in D1 and like in the grimoire cards from D1 show the “darkness” having tentacle like tendrils.

I just want to know what the eyeballs are. Was it explained somewhere?

Considering the emphasis on finding "secrets" in the Nether activity, Akka's involvement would be quite sensible. I will say, though, egregore clearly has a place here, and seems quite within possibility that if Akka has returned [which actually doesn't seem overly far out of reach considering how easy and frequent it is for powerful beings in this franchise to cheat death], then the egregore may well be a factor, either cause or effect, especially in consideration of the nature of egregore. Not to mention, we saw plenty of the orange-pink variants during Revenant... you know, the episode about dead things not staying dead?

Maybe it's the Nine. They seek ways to become seperate from the planets and look for ways through light and darkness.

I am of the believe that the worm is been revived due to the ability’s of the echo.

My first thought was it's Nezarec, which would tie into last season. The eyes remained me of him and they even stack a fear buff which is reminiscent of him. Also when Mithrax was being exorcized, Nezarecs shadow had tentacles.

Honestly I thought they were from Oryx’s worm, their tentacles trying to reach into the dreadnaught and connect to the memory of the navigator

The dreadnaught is giving me monster house vibes it’s honestly cool asf, the whole season feels very Eldritch like bungie had teased. We’ll be finding Eris soon and I bet some answers about the winnower finally super exciting.

Surprised Drifter didn’t try to turn the stuff into sushi

I just figured it was tied to the watery memory of Fundament and Oryx returning in a younger form.

See I figured since Oryx body is at the bottom of Titan’s ocean from Season of Deep. This is just a visualization of them extending the throne realm to connect to the bottom of the sea.

My OPINION; Oryx flayed Akka to build the Dreadnaught, but then somehow saved/stored Akka's consciousness within the Dreadnaught to keep the ship "alive". When we slayed Oryx the consciousness was released, and now the "dead" ship decomposes, allowing for other consciousness to scavenge it. The tentacles may belong to Ahsa while she retrieves what she can, or even the escaping remnants of Akka. Super fun to guess lol

When you look at some of the concept art the "new" skin looks prismatic which could be a reference to an amalgamation of light and dark, just like our blended subclass.

Aren't they the Harbingers that have been feeding on the Dreadnaught since 2015?
I'm still waiting for Bungie to tie up that plot thread.
